Starting a new thread from my Engine Swap thread. Ended up tearing down the 150CC. Everything looked pretty good. Cylinder clean, no scratches. Piston good, rings intact. As soon as I took a hold of the rod (for the piston), I knew something was not right. Sloppy in/out movement, and a little rough. Definetely not the kind of fit to handle high rpm's. It is my first complete teardown, but I read a couple of threads about this failure. Can I take off the gears and bearings, then the rod and just replace (if shaft is not damaged)? Tooling alignment, tips, tricks? Thanks!!

That's true, but when I hit it with the starter, there is a clicking sound as it turns over, then it gets stuck. I can gently break it free by hand and turn it over-no noise.
Maybe starter to gear issue?
I'll probably tear into it today....

Dont think it is the piston, sounds lower, plus it had good compression. I'm thinking crank or bearing.

Hey everyone! Thanks in advance for your help!! Here goes: The engine on the left is a 150cc engine with a long case 12" wheels, disc brakes. I was told it seized. I was able to break it free manually, but it made a couple of clanking noises. . After getting all the electrical squared away, I turned it over, it made some occasional metal clinking sounds then got stuck. I manually broke it free with not much effort and rotated it many times by hand. When using the starter, it made some occasional metal clinking sounds then got stuck. The engine on the left was donated to me. It is a 150cc engine with a short case, 10", drum brakes. You see where this is going??? 1- If first engine is toast, can I swap out the left side and make the second engine a long case with disc brakes? 2- Is it so involved that I might as well try and rebuild the first engine? 3- Parts-wise, might it be cheaper to just buy an engine (new or used). I can handle any of the above scenarios, I'm thinking it would be fun to tear it apart, just looking to see what makes the most sense. Thanks everyone, let me know what you think.

Well, tried unclogging with bag tie, boiling with lemon juice for thirty minutes, jamming air through it, no luck
So, I've invested more time than the 6 bucks the new one costs to order. My original is a 32, 25mm long. The replacement (at every site I went to), is 28mm long. I read somewhere there may be an advantage at starting with the longer pilot jet.
I'll measure and make sure I have enough room.
Thanks for the input!!

Thanks guys! I'll try .022 safety wire, and the wire from a bag tie. See which one works, just want to hog out the hole accidentally.

Have a pilot jet super plugged on one of my scoots, Lance Phoenix. Tried to clean it all the usual ways. When I look down the center all I see is brass. I would like to try to run a wire through it.
It looks like the hole is totally blocked. The scooter would not start, and I eliminated other fuel flow possibilities.
It had been sitting for a few years.
Thanks!!

Hey Steve, It has a female connector with the four blades. Tried autozone, they did not have them, but I found a thread here that had a supplier so I ordered a new male end with connectors. A couple bucks. The wires connected to it, are tan, and three yellow, spliced into the main harness.

Hey everyone. First time post.. Lot's of great info here. I have this scooter, got it for $50, with seized engine (apparently not so much), anyway, it has a CDI mounted in the rear of the bike, typical large with two plugs. It also has a quite small one mounted just forward of the engine with a 4 pin plug. My questions are: What is this smaller one for (I think it goes to the gauges up front). Where can I locate another male plug with connectors (the original was chewed up by rats or a dog). Any help is greatly appreciated!!!
