A scooter, excepting certain ones with separate engine/drive configuration, will always be at a disadvantage in terms of handling. The engine in a scooter is directly under the rider which gives it something like a 70/30 weight distribution. A motorcycle has it further forward putting weight distribution at close to 50/50. Also most scooters are belt drive leading to friction loss. Bikes all have solid drive. Scooters have trunks, bikes don't which is what makes a scooter a better grocery getter against a bike with no rear trunk or saddlebags. well, see, how do we know this weight distribution is a disadvantage? maybe this distribution helps prevent front end wobble. the belt thing is another major point about scooters. the "transmission" in these bikes consist basically of 3 parts, variator, belt, and slip clutch the only part that is hard to service is the slip clutch, but it CAN be serviced using shop tools. a redesign of the CVT could probably lead to toothed belts (i have no idea what this redesign would look like though) i stand by my assertions, a 350cc CVT scooter would probably be the most bike anyone would need. and you wouldn't have to worry about getting the wrong gear How do we know the Scoot weight distribution is a disadvantage? Any modern sport bike bias is 50/50 Try this as I have get on your scoot, take your hands off the bars, then watch that front wheel Wobble, even more fun put a passenger on the back take hands off bars and lean back, it will scar the snit out of your passenger. I have at last count 17 real bikes,I have never had to split cases to get into a gear box, if you have ever MX'd you don't even have to dump the oil to install a new clutch, lean the bike on her side remove cover and install Clutch with hand tools, "O" Ring no maintenance chains and a sprocket or two is all you will ever do. MY CVT is a contestant wear item, the tune is always changing with the rollers or sliders wearing flat spots on them, and the fancy schmancy coated NCY varies the junk coating comes off in less than 30 minutes run time.

Cyborg's point of view comes from his motorcyclist side. As the video shows a motorcycle is faster, handles better and is a thrill ride. i could label my 250 a thrill ride. with an extra 50 to 100cc, it would probably be the most i would ever need. i like the idea of having to negotiate twisties without the worry of gearing. i'm actually surprised the chinese 244 and 257 don't sell like hotcakes. my 244 sported a 13 inch rear tire and a 63 inch wheelbase, with a stated curb weight of 350 pounds. the estimated top speed was around 70MPH. Oh gosh the worry of gearing? Grab a handful of scooter throttle and nothing happens, Hitting the twists on a Scoot is so boring I can hardly stay awake. were is my Starbucks? 6 speed close ratio on the pipe. 380lbs, 157rwhp. 0-60 in 1.9 sec. nice long 86mph first gear, the next five like push button, come out of a high twisty and launch the front end skyward, now Im awake and feel more alive than ever

All Manufactures spend allot of money on Market Research, the days of coming up with a product, put it into production then marketing and see what happens are long gone. The Market dictates. Ive seen many on these Scooter boards that there first experience with Two wheels has been one of these Scooters, they buy one, like it , decide they really like riding and eventually purchase a entry level full size MC and we don't see them around here anymore. Most getting off a 150 or hot rodded 150 to a 250cc or larger Scooter just isn't that attractive compared to a entry level full size MC. I live in a Licker Sickle state were its 50cc, max 30mph no license or insurance required so it's a bunch of people who lost there license due to multiple DUI's, its rare to see a 150cc around here and very rare to see anything larger. Ive come full circle, I've been on full size bikes for more than 45 years and I still own a full size Sport bike, my interest in Scooters came from my Scuba Diving travels in third world countries wear Scooter were everywhere, Ive rented them all over the world, I bought one just for the fun as a hobby, a grocery getter, and I love to build so all the cheap aftermarket hot rod parts attracted me also. I will own a full size bike as long as I can throw a leg over it and still plan on keeping my Scooter as a hobby for a long time.

Speaking of missing the point why in heavens name would the scooter cannon ball ralley dismiss motorcycles?,,, because they are superior in every way that's why,,,my standard dr dualsport would kick a scooters so hard it would wear it like a hat (which has never been challenged by the way) $10,000 bux cash challenge,,, LA to San Fran and back 5 laps of a motocross track ride up to San Fran,,, 5 laps of another motocross track there,,, service ride,,,5 laps again on the return lap ride back to LA and 5 laps of another motocross track ,,, guess who wins,,, think about it,,, I got less than $2 large in my dr,,,, hands down no takers,,,, scooters are fun and all gang but they ain't up to the task Amen! Nuff Said!

Aftef riding motorcycles for 50 years, I moved to a small city downtown area. At age 67 after spine surgery with nerve damage to one leg, I decided to try a scooter. I owned a Vespa 2 stroke I bought for $50 way back. As I have a motorcycle endorsement, I could have bought any size. But I bought a Bintelli 50 for its low price, warranty support and was happy with it for as long as I didn't have a hill to go up. I also thought it was so slow I was impeding traffic and being a menace. Did a 80cc BBK which made it better. I had test ridden a Genuine Rough house 50 2 stoke but didn't want to spend the extra $1000 Anyhow Bintelli scooters are well made and they make 50 thru 150 models. But if you want a 50 and have $2000 you cannot beat the Rough house. If the dealer removes the exhaust restriction and the spacer in the variator it will outperform any four stroke. No oil changed or valve adjustments, just gas in the tank and synthetic injector oil. One liter every 800 miles. The 150 Chinese scooters were OK but the Buddy 170i was quicker and fuel injected. I bought a new leftover for a good price. Sold it and got a Yamaha Smax which is a great all rounder. I've learned a lot and have sold the scooters I felt weren't the best to some buyers who are enjoying them. I worked hard for 50 years and scooters are my only vice. Even my wife believes it's money well spent because if I'm happy, she's happy for me. yeah I'm lucky Great Story, thanks for sharing

The Fake ABS is Worse than Gimmickry, its Mambo Jambo marketing. Its simply a Hydraulic Check Valve, it will only Dump a Pressure spike, more like chatter or stutter. One of the first things I did while un crating my new Scoot was to remove the Check Valve and Throw is as Far as I could, then install a Proper Banjo Bolt. The Rubber Break hose itself was the spongiest I have ever run accrossed, a Bad Buzz combination twas. I had a proper Braided Stainless line custom made in town for $27, She will do a Stoppie Now with One Finger actuating the lever.

I would recommend at least 4-6 sizes above what is in the Carb. now Jets are fairly cheap if ya but only one or two shipping charges to get more cost more than the jets do. Again Start out fat (rich) and back up from there. its safer that way on a Two Stroke.

I should add, This is not a forgiving four stroke running in a bath of oil, Don't play with lean jetting on a Two Smoker. Would recommend to start out fat and back up from there.

You Will Need a assortment of Both Main and Pilot jets. The BBk and the air box/snorkel mod will Demand More Fuel throughout the entire rpm range.
