Newer happen compression doesn't go higher if rocker is a little loose. Valve is closed it's closed it can't close any more then that... A compression tester is a basic tool but any buddy who services engines should have one and know how to read one. To many people think you can you your finger this is a joke a best you need fuel, compression, fire if you missing something it's not going to run. In some cases will run but poorly at best.

First who ever told you you should get 200 psi ? my 300 cc new get 260 tops. I'm thinking you have a couple of issues fuel, and spark you say after you ride it it drops off sounds like you first after it happen see if it starts with a spray of starter fluid just to see if it will go. If not check spark yes you should have a few tools with you. This way your aren't guessing when you ask questions here.

No good compression is 150 to 165 tops with your compression I would look at fire or fuel take off air cleaner splay lightly a little starter fluid and try starting with a fully charged battery. If it won't even trying to even start look at coil, wire the wire end where spark plug pushes on is really screw into wire make sure it's tight into wire and retry.

Tortoise I seen what you run into many times when carb engine leak gas down clean oil off ring showing low compression when cranking engine oil splashes some on walls and it starts and a surprise looks right. LOL Been there done it LOL

this is my main concern about everyone saying about always checking checking valve lash myself I believe in old school compression test will tell a great deal about valves and rings. Then make a intelligent way to go if compression is great leave it alone. The old saying is still right if not broke leave it alone.

Wow good to have parts just down the road road. But it was a good thing you caught it early when you did right other then what might have been.

If you use a prick punch and hammer just tap it in direction needed to be unscrewed it shouldn't be that tight that just looks like a intake manifold bold.
