Yet another chronicle about desecrating an excellent Znen 139QMB into a pile of excrement!
For others considering purchasing their first scooter . . instead of "gaming the system", if 30-35 mph is not suitable for your performance expectations, save yourself a lot of expense and aggravation by initially selecting at least a 125cc. You know what road rage is right? Heres a link: tortoise, you should watch the video because what happens to the rager is hilarious. Zhen 50cc stock does 39mph tops, which for some is very good. I have been confronted a few times by very angry motorists for holding them up with my lack of torque and low top speed. After seeing your sym125 rig and homeade trailer im pretty curious. Whats your deal, post a link about your scooter.

So, to restate: After readjusting the valves to bigger clearances ( from .003 and .004 intake/exhaust to .004 and .004 intake/exhaust ) here is what issues I have discovered. Ive ridden the scooter about 5 miles since valve job. - the starter I can visually see spin when when I have the cvt cover off and hit the ignition button. The starter bendix of course will push itself out of its hole. What troubles me is the starter doesnt make that healthy "ch-chunk" when you press the ignition button.
*what could be the reason for the starter making a healthy ch-chunk noise when I hit the starter button. Is it the starter solenoid? Oh yea, I replaced the starter button with new one 200 miles ago.

I have a 139qmb longcase with a 100cc bbk, a9 cam, cdi, open air filter, a new 9amp battery ( the original was a 4 amp )
About 2 months ago the belt broke and I recently replaced it and adjusted the valves. I forgot to hook the ground wire up to the valve cover and it wouldn't start. After all this the scooter doesn't want to start sometimes using the starter switch. The starter motor doesn't make a loud click noise like it use to ( the starter is brand new ) when I press the starter switch. Sometimes the starter doesn't even spin and I have to use the kickstart to start it.
My scooter lost all power while I was driving it a few days ago. I twisted the throttle and nothing happened. It was like the battery died.
About a week before this happened I dropped a spark plug into the heat shroud and forgot about it. The next time I drove it over a railroad crossing my scooter started to make a horrible whining noise because the loose spark plug I had forgotten about got lodged in the fan and nicked up the plastic blades. I removed the spark plug. There were a few scratches and nicks in the fan shroud area on both the plastic and metal areas. I noticed the magnet had some scratches on it from the spark plug rattling around.
My scooter wont start now. When I turn the key to the on position the gas gauge needle works. I have tried to start it with both the ignition switch and the kickstart. -The starter works. It spins when I press the ignition but engine doesn't fire up. -the battery is charged -Ive got spark and gas and compression
Ive been wanting to upgrade the stator from a 6 pole to an 8 pole because I upgraded to 35w H4 lightbulbs and the lights are very dim at lower rpms.
Has anyone had the same type of trouble from leaving a sparkplug in the fan shroud area?
I have a multimeter.

I am looking to buy or make a tool for servicing a 50cc cvt and clutch instead of an impact wrench. Just the nuts to remove them from engine. I have been using a screwdriver and vice grips to remove nut on cvt and it is a hassle. Can you reccomend a product that has teeth and locks up the cvt from moving so i can service cvt? I have seen one before but dont know where to buy one.

I bought the Aramid belt from scrappydogs website.
I found some interesting advice on the web on removing cvt w/out impact wrench.

No, i bought same dlh kit and didnt change springs from stock. My mechanic father deemed it not neccesary or worth the trouble for the disputable performance gain. My bike has awesome torque.
I have the gy6 50cc. GMW brand.

So I desire my air filter to be facing forward. It would look cooler and shtuff. Click link to see an example of what i want. Notice the carb is facing forward. www.scooterfile.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/8577340297_0df287996d_b-700x466.jpgHeres what im working with: Heres my wrapped exhaust. **oh yea, the bike is in Florida. Its very very hot here. In the winter it is usually 70degrees. Winter is for 3 months.

Hey whats up Lain, I figured them to be a form over function thing. I understand a frames head angle and OEM fork length to be the determining factors in turning. I have experience with high performance mountain bikes and changing its geometry for "slacker or steeper" steering characteristics through installing a longer or shorter fork.
An example: For each 20mm shorter a fork is than OEM, the head angle is effectively 'steeper' by one degree which in turn, assuming you use the same tires and are on familur terrain makes for a shorter turning radius.
**a fun fact although it isnt relating to motor-scooters: theres an engineering standard called the "q factor" used in the two wheeled bicycle world. It has to do with how high the bottom bracket is in relation to the length usually in mm of the bikes crank arms. Q factor comes into play when the cranks arms are spinning and the terrain is rough making the rider choose his "line" wisely. If any one scooter oriented has any questions about this or there is a Bmx enthusiast that wants to tlk with me, feel free.

So, is anyone here that has rode a scoot with one of those new fangled wide tires? They are very very wide and appear to have no roundness like a tire with dimensions such as 120/70/12?
Hows the ride? Firm, soft.
Hows the Handling characteristics compared to a short wheelbase 50cc with "normal tire"?
I appreciate your response

my first scooter would blow a belt about every month-month and a half or so. very damn annoying. when i got my new scooter they were side by side with the belt covers off and i just happened to look from one to the other (i wasn't trying to figure it out) and i saw that the pulleys on the old scooter were out of whack, meaning not in line, so it was always running a bit warped causing much more friction and tearing up the belts prematurely. Yea, i might when i get a new belt reinstall the OEM cvt. I think maybe if the missing clip from variator wasnt the problem then the cvt and clutch being out of line might be the culprit. I have found a gates belt at walmart for my long case gy6 and the length and angle are a little bit off. Ive decided to go with an Aramid belt. Napa and Oreilly auto part stores have belts.
