True, and my friend was telling me before the guy ever mentioned drugs that he got a bad vibe from the guy. I thought it was just because he was homeless but after this I can see why I need to be more careful.
I honestly do not know how to prevent anymore thefts. The cops are already on the lookout for the guy and I am only 2 blocks from the station! It seems they changed thier normal route since they came to my house and I told them what happened. They used to use the main street now they come thru my street it seems all the time.
I have my landlord's friend's scooter in my back yard (carb issues) and a friends scoot in the back stripped down so I can swap the stator and some other stuff when some tools and stuff arrive, he ended up dropping it off earlier today before the druggie showed up. The druggie was taking lots of pics of the scoot ready for the stator swap and whatnot and was trying to convince me to give it to him for meth..........
I honestly did feel like telling the guy to leave when he started talking about meth but was kind of scared of what he would do... My little sister, 13 years old, was in the back yard with her cat. The neighbors were all looking out the window at this guy, and did not come out till after the guy left then they all complained about him.
I have the gate locked now, never locked it before, had to buy a lock. The only way to get over the fence now it to break it because it is already in bad shape. I also attached bells tot he gate and my window is right above the gate so I would hear it.
Put alarms in 2 of the scoots, and attached bicycle alarms to the other 2, chained all of the scooters together by thier front and back wheels and to the concrete holding the porch up. I also brought everything in that wasn't bolted down. No tools or anything I had left is outside. I have junk scooter parts I would be glad if were stolen because I wouldn't have to pay my friend to take them. Besides that just chained up scooters all with alarms.

So the other day I helped someone who was stuck alongside the road, he had a bad belt. I helped him by using my emergency impact wrench and spare belt. Today he came over to get me to help him put a tire on a new rim.
The entire time before I finally got to the rim, because he was very stubborn and wouldn't let me take the muffler off, he was screaming louder than anyone should scream period, about crystal meth, how much he loved it, how much he loved being on it, how good he felt right now, and I was just like please sir calm down and get away from me. He approaches me as I'm holding his rim, telling me I NEED to be on meth like him, he's trying to tell me how I would do so much scooter work on meth because it makes you do stuff or something, and he starts raising his voice, now randomly changing the subject about how he thinks he got the wrong rim because it didn't have a valve in it. I try to tell him please, I have told you countless times now, please stop talking about how much you love meth, especially stop doing it at the top of your voice volume. This guy wouldn't stop, and now he's screaming at me walking up to me and I dropped the rim and put my fists up because I honestly did not know what to expect from him. I only helped him once before.
I did not charge him, I even offered to give him another rim I had that was taken off my scooter with 650 miles. He punched my porch, started screaming and made a big fit. The thing is the rim only had a piece of dirt on it which he refused to allow me to remove. He then after driving it away came back with a huge dent in his rim with what looked like something like a hammer caused because it had circular dents in it the size of a hammer head. He then demanded I buy him a new rim right away, at 3pm on a Saturday when no shops are open.
I also noticed right after he came back complaining that 2 of my spre batteries were missing, he was asking about them earlier, a lot of my tools went missing, a couple bags of spare parts are now gone.... All I was trying to do was help someone and they royally screwed me...
I try to be a nice guy, I try to help people, I try so hard to keep smiling and just keep helping people but this just makes me feel like telling everyone to go figure it out themselves, to not ask me for help, even though I can help them. At least maybe from now on I will not stop and help anyone on the side of the road... Though I feel that is stupid because I like helping people and I shouldn't be discouraged to do so by one horribly insane druggie guy.

lain, the benefit for me in having the pros do this, is they looked over everything. Not just changed the oil, but made sure everything else is sound and in good condition after sitting the winter plugged into the Battery Tender Jr. It's why I didn't just take Peej to my car mech. They said that sure, they can pump out the old oil and replace with new, plus new filter. But they couldn't make sure nothing had gone bad while sitting. That alone is WELL worth them doing it instead of me learning. It's the diff between driving there beforehand tense and noticing every single little twitch and lurch, and driving home afterwards comfortable and relaxed and confident my scoot's all good for another season. Now if only the rains go away so I can scoot to work.... >'Kat Did they do everything in front of you? You should know how to change your air filter and oil now! So now for little oil changes when there are no problems you may choose to do it yourself now if you want.

Darn, well the only thing stopping us from using the stator from the old engine is the flywheel. I thought I had the right puller but I do not. How do I get this thing off without a puller? Or is there something very similar to a puller I can buy locally at autozone or something? We tried wedging flatheads under the sides of the flywheel and trying to push it out while tapping the flywheel gently, but no luck. Tried pulling it with all of our might just because we're guys, no luck. Tried staring at it for a while too, but we couldn't scare it off... Hey lain , I have an 11 pole stator and it should be for a DC scoot. If u want it its yours . pretty much brand new . I got it from a member who bout a new engine from scrappy and it would not work on his setup. I was eventually going to use it , but if you can I'd be glad to give it to you. I don't think there is a need at the moment. Last known the old engine's stator was good. I ordered a flywheel puller for 150cc engines, 27mm size, so we should have it off next week. Until then just going to install everything else. Is it possible to run a DC scoot without the stator hooked up, just the pickup? Just wondering in case I can do that to tune the new carb to save some time.

Love the "new" fuel tank,,, lol,, range is a little weak tho ,,,, lol Cleaned the old one out today with dish detergent, popped my spare fuel petcock on, and now am using the old tank. Swapped mufflers with my muffler from my old scoot for testing, getting another muffler soon anyways from a parts scoot I'm getting this weekend. I hit a bump and it stalled, had to start it back up with the kickstarter because apparantly there's a loose wire somewhere. After I hit the bump and stalled the scoot wouldn't start with the electric, the electric didn't even try. Though after I stopped the engine after kickstarting it the scoot stating with the electric again but very weak though I am using a very old battery so the battery could be bad anyways. Obviously still have some kinks to work out but oh man the engine is so smooth and it rides so nice. Such a nice scoot. Registering it asap for everyday street use.

So I'm over at my friends now. There are 5 wires coming from the ac stator, and 5 wires coming from the dc stator. The Dc stator has 3 orange wires, a green, and a blue/white. The Ac stator has a white, yellow, green, red/black and blue/white. Looks similar enough to just change the wire ends and stick the wires in the right places. Would this be the correct way to wire the AC labeled one to the DC harness? White, yellow and red/black to the orange wires, green to green, and blue/white to blue/white? Absolutely not. Your friend likely has a 3 phase, 12 pole stator based on the wiring you describe... The three orange are all A/C out, green is ground blue/whit is your pick up.... An A/C single phase (even if it's floating ground won't work) stator will not work with his R/R. The wires for your A/C stator are this: White/Yellow A/C output (even though there both A/C, this is single phase/half wave and not 2 phase - If it has a floating ground then it's 2 phase/full wave) Green is ground Red with black stripe is for the A/C CDI (This is your firing coil) Blue with white stripe runs to your CDI (this is your pick up) If you had an 11 pole, three phase A/C stator that would work with his R/R but you're out of luck in this case. Darn, well the only thing stopping us from using the stator from the old engine is the flywheel. I thought I had the right puller but I do not. How do I get this thing off without a puller? The benefits of doing your own tuning and changes are too big to ignore for me. I've taught many people who were not mechanically inclined to do their own oil changes. If you know how to unscrew 2 things and pour liquid into a hole then you can do it.
I charge only $40 to do all of the above, and ask whoever I'm helping to buy the oil or pay me to go get it. Shops around here charge 150-250 for the same tasks. I don't charge a lot because I want everyone with a scooter on the road and happy, like me, because I too am a scooter rider.

Well, changing and rewiring everything for AC is not in the budget, we would also need to buy a rectifier, ac cdi, some wiring, terminal ends, etc you get the point. Already spent everything he had to get the engine. I'm not paying for someone elses scooter, I am just helping my friend get it back on the road so the simplest and fastest method is the best right now. Also he has a new battery and a spare battery, he knows about the issue with dead batteries and not being able to kick it.

Well it was slightly modified, but the guy obviously didn't know what he was doing with it. It came with 3 ignition coils wedged in there, lol one of them brand new, a brand new plug already in it, and the exhaust is stupid. The exhaust had the muffler cut off to put on a dirt bike exhaust tube with a crimped in end. It sounds like it has no exhaust at all and was giving lots of lean pops, so that muffler/exhaust, not sure what to call this specifically lol, is going into the trash! lol
There was no maintenance at all done to it as far as I can tell, but the brakes are working great, the front squeaks cuz of rust on the disc. The wheels and tires basically new, everything about it is almost new, it just looks like crap from sitting outside for over a year, especially with our most recent winter with blizzard after blizzard. It's missing the mirrors, and all the lights are spray painted black for some reason, so it obviously needs work, I'm just excited I found it and was able to make a revival kit and ride away in less than a half hour after I got there.

Maybe if you redesigned the forks, and suspension sure. It would be a LOT of work, actually just recently was looking into somethign similar, but 16 inch wheels are more than big enough for scoots, 33 inch? What was he smoking?

you don't want my oil temps grouped into the statistic's. with all my worn out bearings i'm sure my oil temps are on the high side ALL of my bearings are bad on my scoot, ALL of them, Good thing my oil seals work. If I had a thermometer for oil/high temps I'd measure, but I do not. I have hands with very tough skin so I put my hand directly on the valve cover and engine to feel temp. My scoot, with 100cc BBK, what seems to be gaining compression issues appearing from blown out gaskets, runs just "warm" even after a long ride. Warm being that I can rest my hand on the valve cover and not be burned, and right after stopping the engine too. Comparing to my new agility (same as my 100cc but it is stock 50cc) actually feels about the same. I have been using Valvoline SAE 5w-40, and was using mobil1 synthetic 0w-40 over the winter. For the past month it has been between 50 and degrees, the latest "temp read" being 70s. Every time I've checked nomatter how hot or cold it is outside has always been the same. Never burned myself on my own rides. Hope this data helps somewhat!
