I second on the loose spark plug boot, that's a very common issue; a bad CDI connector is also common.

Tell me about taxes... Lithium battery, I saw it don't remember where but not sure what to get also, yeah newbie. I been searching for parts here and there and excited to get it up and running, that's why I don't remember where I saw the lithium battery. I also saw the upgrade carburetor on scrappydog web page, is it worth the extra money? Also, what are you guys using for the gas pump? I saw the electric pump video but not sure if is a good upgrade and if so where to get one. Raleigh is a nice place to live, friendly people but it's HOT and in winter time people driving........ Thanks guys for all your comments Ricardo There are not that many Ricardos here but we are the best, LOL. Edit, I saw the battery in scrappydog, but 4 or 7amps? 4amps usually do the trick on a standard 50cc, 125cc and 150cc GY6; 7 amps is for bigger displacements, or if you have a lot of after market stuff attached to the scooter (additional lights, radio...).

I'm thinking on making a detachable sidecart to haul groceries, tools and the occasional passenger, not sure if a 150cc GY6 has enough power to deal with a sidecart, specially loaded

Another Ricardo here Raleigh is a beautiful place, I was there a few years ago, I wish I can go back some day. Yep, a battery sitting for 2 years is definitely gone, they are cheap; the lithium batteries are a good upgrade, they last forever and are lighter, don't suffer much for been sitting without use like the normal acid batteries. www.scrappydogscooters.com/COMMON_PARTS.html

It could be both ways, too rich or too lean, your air filter might be too restrictive, I've had that issue before, try tuning the carb without the air filter, just the bare carb, it won't hurt the engine to do so just to check everything is ok, then if you find a setting that works fine without the air filter, put the air filter back on and check if it still runs fine, if not, try adjusting the A/F a bit, if it doesn't work, get a less restrictive air filter.

... Too old to DRIVE on the other hand.. Sometimes they don't figure that out until after they've driven through the crowd of people at the bus stop.. I used to suggest learning in a car before getting a motorcycle -- you don't get hurt in a cage. Then someone said it is better for kids to start on a small moped/scooter -- they do less damage when they crash. So I now say that everyone should ride on a 50cc moped/scooter for a year or two before they are allowed in a car. That has been proven by our British friends, motorcyclist make better road users. motorbikewriter.com/motorcyclists-are-safer-road-users/
