So update. Looks like there were 2 issues. The secondary valve had seized up, and caused the gears on the stva to strip. So it looks like I'll be replacing the entire throttle body. I used some lubricant and for now opened the valve all the way and disconnected the stva so it stays open. My gas mileage dropped a bit, but I'll live with it until just before spring to see if I can get a deal on the repair work.
I need to find a used throttle body too. So I'll have to check to see if the 2006 version works on the 2007 model.

Okay, so first. I'm horrible with anything mechanical.
I recently found a 2007 Burgman 400 with 29k miles on it for 1600. Took it for a spin, seemed normal. Around the block ( it was raining so didn't open it up properly).
On the way home, I noticed it was accelerating slow. Like super slow. Once I got it home I took a look again this morning noticed the FI light was on. And it wouldn't go past 4k rpm.
Everything I've looked at says it's the SVTA, either the motor stuck or the valves themselves.
Assuming I use a shop to repair it, I'm expecting about 800 for part and install.
Is this still a decent deal?
Also does anyone know if the throttle body on the 07 is the same as previous years. I can get a used on ebay that might save me money in the long run.

I live in Hillsboro, Oregon, and I'm looking for a place that repairs scooters. Anywhere in the general Portland area will work.

I'm not sure where this belongs, so I'll just leave the link here. I found this searching around, I know a lot of people have asked about it. Hope someone finds it helpful. jmstar.com/download1.php?id=87

So, I've got the tires fixed. Yay.
I'm on to checking for bouncing RPM issue. When checking the tires for leaks I found it best to use a spray bottle to wet the tires and look for bubbles, will this work for checking leaks on hoses? For those that have a similar bike than me, is there a way to do this without removing the side panels?

I adjusted the idle to around 2000 rpm to keep it from sputtering and dying after start up. I noticed that the rpm's drop to around 1500 ever other minute or so, then back up. I haven't adjustment the valves yet, should that go away with the valve adjustment or is there something else I should look into?

Hey guys, I was putting off posting hoping I could find the answers elsewhere. I found a lot of good stuff so far, but missing a few pieces. I'd like to say my mechanical skills are pretty bad. I can change the oil, filters, lights, I have diagrams for all the wiring, it's kinda sketch but I'm decent with electronics. right now I just want to get it running smoothly. I'm very happy with the power in this. I'm only a half mile from work but all the roads are 45/55. So I can keep up with traffic well enough. Haven't tried out any of the hills around here yet. Will do that, when I get my tags/etc. I have one of the Jonway YY250T/Shanghai Shenke blah blah blah scooters with the Honda clone 244cc engine in it. I can't seem to locate the valves everyone talks about adjustment. My bike seems not to do well with cold starts. I have to rev it until it gets up to running speeds, then it idles just fine. (maybe also need to turn the idle speed up?) Where would I find that as well? I just bought this used with a about 5k miles on it. I have a list of to dos when I get the extra money, but I'm trying to do as much as possible now before I put more money into it. Is there a way to take the turn signal and brake light covers off without removing body panels? I want to try and clean them up a bit. I know I can change the lights without doing it, but I want to clean the actual covers part. I'm trying to find the valves for this bike to adjust them. Are they on the side shown or on the side with the muffler? Do I need to remove the cvt cover and the air filter (shown, I think) and the body as well? I tried looking underneath, but couldn't find anything that looked like the two valve arcs I've seen. List of things to replace/do. -Battery (currently has to be jumped) -fuses (check fuse box cables) -turn signal lights(breaks head lights work for now) -change oil -spark plug -adjust valves. Feel free to add suggestions, but my mechanical skills are limited diagrams, help.

1.) There is method for adjusting the valves when the engine is cold. 2.) Any chance it's the idle speed? I'm a pretty noob, but that seems to be what other posts similar to yours have said. Goodluck. I'm working on adjustment my valves. As soon as I can find them. >.< scootdawg.proboards.com/thread/15019

Hi, I'm completely new to owning a scooter. I purchased the Shenke YY250T for $850. Here in Oregon. Unfortunately, I still have to take the Team Oregon Training. Luckily I can get a permit and ride with friends who already have their endorsements. I know for sure I've got some work to do to it, but so far it's been amazing. I'm a very big guy 430lb and shrinking and it easily gets up to 60 mph. So far I know I need to replace the battery, possibly fuses, turn signal lights, and likely a tune up. Wish me luck.
