Okay, so first. I'm horrible with anything mechanical.
I recently found a 2007 Burgman 400 with 29k miles on it for 1600. Took it for a spin, seemed normal. Around the block ( it was raining so didn't open it up properly).
On the way home, I noticed it was accelerating slow. Like super slow. Once I got it home I took a look again this morning noticed the FI light was on. And it wouldn't go past 4k rpm.
Everything I've looked at says it's the SVTA, either the motor stuck or the valves themselves.
Assuming I use a shop to repair it, I'm expecting about 800 for part and install.
Is this still a decent deal?
Also does anyone know if the throttle body on the 07 is the same as previous years. I can get a used on ebay that might save me money in the long run.

Have the valves checked before spending money on anything else, at 29k mi. which isn't much on a Burgman the exhaust valves might just be closing up on you as the motor warms , you might just need a simple adjustment .

Do it the easy way first get a check compression, get a cheep compression tester pull out plug crank engine 5 or 6 times read Gage if you get 140 or higher check bad fuel bad fuel filter vacuum leaks thinking yours has has fuel injection right? The Burgman 400 has a real strong engine .

So update. Looks like there were 2 issues. The secondary valve had seized up, and caused the gears on the stva to strip. So it looks like I'll be replacing the entire throttle body. I used some lubricant and for now opened the valve all the way and disconnected the stva so it stays open. My gas mileage dropped a bit, but I'll live with it until just before spring to see if I can get a deal on the repair work.
I need to find a used throttle body too. So I'll have to check to see if the 2006 version works on the 2007 model.
