When are they going to cover suspension upgrades in class? The instructors may have some local suppliers they could point you towards or make it part of an extra credit assignment.
You would be surprised at how much you can do with adjusting preload and such on the front forks with common hardware store items and adjust stiffness with just an oil change. Some with Aprilias will install fork braces from something like a small MotoGuzzi motorcycle and use Race Tech Gold Valves to give them some additional adjustability.
Hope you continue to heal up and recover quickly. I still have bruises from my 45 mph slide out on some sugar sand this past spring. My riding gear saved me from anything really severe.

The important number is the second number which is 40. The first number is how thick the oil gets when its cold. If you are in a colder climate then go with the 10W40 for easier cold weather starting and if your in the South then the 15W40 should be fine. Note that the Yamaha manual is written for the engines built by them to their tighter tolerances so the Yamaha manufactured engine would need a motor oil that did not thicken as much when cold as would a varient of their engine made by another manufacturer using loser tolerances.

802.11 ac dual band is the way to go since the 5 GHz band won't be impacted as badly by 2 GHz cordless phones. If you have a cordless phone you may have to move the main base further away from the router. Also many service providers like from Verizon or Roadrunner give you routers with pretty abysmal WiFi performance with some having a practical working range of only 9 to 15 feet. If you shop around you can find decent 802.11 ac dual band routers for around $75 on Amazon.com. I finally upgraded mine from the standard Verizon unit and am very pleased with the results.
Pinging Google gets me a 7ms average response time and internal is less than 1ms on Ethernet while WiFi response is also quite good at 8ms average response time for Google and 0.5ms internal.

Head replaced twice and did they use a new head gasket or just reused the potentially old defective one? At 30 psi compression you commonly hear of the dipstick blowing out and the purge tube overflowing if its not a bad valve. Time to check the valve timing and if correct then pull the head and take good look before ordering parts. You may have to reset the timing chain, need a valve or could have a perforated piston top or may just need a new head gasket.

....... Its a rough environment in the worst where one would choose to hide personal items for safe keeping in a 1 or 2 liter bottle inserted up their own back sides resulting in regular cavity searches by the guards when bottles became unaccounted for since they many times used them to distill liquor, etc. Ouch.....my brain really hurts now. Pains a few feet lower. I was fortunate that even though the consultants were not immune to being searched I was never present during such events. I did come close one day as one occurred moments after I left the facility in Calhoun County. It was another consultant who caused the event since he had brought water bottles and a extra set of civilian clothes inside the inmate areas. That consultant fell off the map afterwards and become Persona Non Grata with all the other consultants who had to put their feet and hands on the yellow outlines after loosening their belts that day. In Florida there is still a chance they you will end up on a chain gang too if you act up. While most of the US abandoned the practice, in the South its still used by individual Sheriffs departments and correctional facilities. Northerners all believe its just history and a gag from and old Paul Newman movie however there is a lot of Florida that needs trimming, weeding etc that's too costly or dangerous to get machinery into so they still use inmates chained together to do the work. You get a very unfashionable bright orange wardrobe that almost glows in the dark when your working on the chain gang.

Brandon - Paying someone to rebuild it for you could end up costing you more than the purchase price of a new one. Scooter Madness has that model for $779.99 so if yours runs at all it may be cheaper to sell it on Craigs List and purchase a new one. www.scootermadness.com/taotao-thunder-50-gas-scooter/Your local Craigs List may also have local mechanics who work on Chinese Scooters locally. The cheapest rebuild supplies may not be worth the cost of shipping or the labor to install them so caution is advised on going with the cheapest available parts. Parts for Scooters will get you about the best parts available for your money spent. How many miles on the bike and what makes you believe it needs rebuilding?

There was a copper colored washer, no o ring or rubber washer. Found a bolt that was just a minor amount larger, was afraid to crack the aluminum gear box so did not over tighten and this seemed to do the job. Thank you, just another dumb lady trying to be a do it yourselfer The copper washer is the crush washer and the seal for the drain plug. If it was damaged by shavings then it won't seal.

Just changed gear oil on the Ice Bear PMZ 300-11. As the plug was removed there were several pieces of aluminum threads. As the plug was put back I was unable to tighten it, leaving it dripping at a slow rate. I did have a ever so larger bolt that I used which alleviated the drip. Will this be a problem? Do I need to have the gearbox rethreaded or will this be okay? Was the crush washer missing? Usually there is a soft metal washer on a gear oil drain bolt and if its omitted then the shoulder of the bolt that seals against the inside of the washer binds up and damages the threads in the drain hole.

We are sometimes our own worst enemies.
Assault with a motor vehicle was probably the light sentence as attempted homicide while on parole could have effectively resulted in a life sentence for someone approaching 60. If he has acted out while incarcerated it will add to the sentence instead of reducing it.
I was a prison consultant and there are prisons and there are prisons. Some were OK but most were places you really did not want to be. Its a rough environment in the worst where one would choose to hide personal items for safe keeping in a 1 or 2 liter bottle inserted up their own back sides resulting in regular cavity searches by the guards when bottles became unaccounted for since they many times used them to distill liquor, etc.
Lets hope he/she can get it together and not have an extended stay.

Just be mindful that asking isn't the same as getting.
I see a lot of adds for scooters on Craigs List where they try to sell bikes for more than they paid for them because some web site lists the MSRP at triple of what they actually sell for.
I have a 2009 Aprilia Sport City 250 which for the last 2 or 3 years that they were available were sold for $2,999 yet you still see them on Craigs List for $2,600 to $3,500 or sometimes more listing the $4,699 MSRP from 2009 as the comparative value and some of the bikes have over 15,000 miles on them. In truth on a private sale they are only worth about $1,500 to $1,900 in fair to good condition and from a dealer around $2,300 if in perfect condition with extremely low mileage.

Remember that foam air filters are only semi-permanent and still require replacement after one or two cleanings as the foam starts to break down which happens more rapidly since ethanol came into use. A one cylinder engine develops a pulse that flows back through the intake which is what allows the vacuum fuel pump to operate and mists a little fuel vapor back at the filter which when laden with ethanol rots away at it until it eventually can tear and be sucked into the cylinder along with all the dirt it contains. Myself in the past 50,000 miles of riding scooters instead of motorcycles I have not had a vacuum shut off fail of its own but have had bad vacuum lines and intake parts fail preventing enough vacuum to open them (so far not on the Aprilia though). I've had the same foam uni filter for 20,000 + miles and its still going strong . it wouldnt be worth the $30 for a foam unifilter if you had to replace it after a couple cleanings. Not everyone has the more expensive foam UNI filter and the more common OEM type foam filters do fail quite often. I usually replace the OEM foam filters with an ethanol resistant version from Mallossi or another vendor of Ethanol Resistant Foam Filters. After counting the costs of purchasing and maintaining a UNI filter along with what you give up removing a port tuned airbox in a well designed intake I am not a big fan of the pricey filters anyways. Remember I ride a fuel injected Aprilia which has a tuned port intake for better low/mid-range torque and it works quite well as it comes from the factory. Note that the tuned port length and diameter can be critical on a carbureted bike since that helps maintain the intake pulse and vacuum required to operate fuel valves and vacuum fuel pumps. All part of the equilibrium of the intake.

I wonder how the gasoline fired forced hot air heaters that they used in the colder climates in the old bugs hold up to ethanol. It always made me take pause when turning on one of those things with the gas tank right above them behind the dashboard. Crap, you have the guy in the front legs on fire and the guy in the back seat wrapped in a blanket! Sit over to the side with the battery and you'll be a little bit warmer in the back seat. ;>

Sounds like a local crack down on modified 50's and such. Even if it was not modified a 50 on a downhill can zip up to 45 faster than most will realize especially if its a 2stroke so there is a chance you were still over the 25 mph moped limit.
If it was by visual estimate which it should say on the ticket then you have a chance of beating this one however if there is an option to just take a drivers education class to clear it that may be the easiest way out. Many times you can just pay a small fee and take those on-line without missing time from work, etc.
On not taking your wallet with id and medical insurance info etc while riding well that's not a very good idea. Always have you wallet with you with your info as its one of the important safety devices that no rider should be without.
Ride Safe!
