On Monday, 12/21, I went to look at (and purchased) a 2008 Baccio VX150 that was on my local Craigslist . On Tuesday, 12/22, I went in the AM and registered/titled/plated it, and picked it up/drove it home (legally, even! ) on Tuesday evening. Have been having fun riding ever since... The scoot has newer tires and a newer belt (owner I bought it from had owned it since 8/14 - he bought it from his friend - the original owner) and a new battery. Starts right up with no application of throttle, runs well and smoothly, all lights work, brakes are good. When I transferred the title, I noted that the mileage was previously given as 7554 km - the mileage when I bought it (kilometerage?) was 8101 - so the most-current owner didn't put much on her (said that was why he was selling it - didn't use it). Of course, I can't post a pic from work - - but, it is my avatar now... Anyway, any thoughts - good or bad? I'll take either... Oh - I paid $650 - and the original bill of sale was in with the owner's manual (yeah - I even received an owner's manual!) - the scoot was originally purchased at a dealer (All The Wheel Toys in Stuart, FL - now defunct ) - original purchase price was $2299 (tax, tags, and all other BS included). So - I now own a scooter! Oh - I called this thread "NSD" - New Scooter Day - to mirror what we say in the world of guitar - NGD = New Guitar Day! Maybe I've started something? Or is "NSD" something that one says in the world of scoots?

Here is a pic:
Made in June, 2008 by the Zhejiang Taizhou Wangye Power Co., LTD - it has a sticker for the VIN and stuff, not a metal plate...

WOW!
I REALLY like the look of that one! Saw-tooth disk, Matte-black and red/silver (or white; can't tell in the pic) and black spokes with red rims... ALMOST a "rat-bike" look, without the rust! It's the perfect mix of old-school and modern! Sort of a European "hooligan scoot" in appearance! I wouldn't change a thing cosmetically (unless you can find some WHITEWALLS, and maybe some checkerboard squares at the color breaks... LOL...). Oh yeah! And a nice chrome (or flat-black) baffled straight-pipe with megaphone tip... Once I get started, on "a LOOK" it's hard to stop... LOL!
OK, sorry, I know... I'm full of ideas. It comes with getting OLD... It's YOUR scoot, make it like YOU want it, as J.G.Wentworth might say...
Even though I really had to go to a larger 250 because local traffic has gotten much faster, my FAVORITE all-round class of scooters is still the Chinese-style 150's. I truly loved my old Xingyue 150 for over 6 years. Something tells me you're going to LOVE this one!
Have a bone for the great purchase... And, as always,
Ride safe!

Thanks, old chopper guy - for the bone and the kind thoughts. Your comments on the scoot's appearance mean that much more, having seen the appearance of your scoot...
rocky - the KBB numbers were the same on this coast - and it seemed worth the $650...people on Craigslist over here seem to want $1000 or so for the same vintage of scoot...
Both owners seemed to have taken care of her - I am actually quite surprised/happy that she continues to start and run well. Both previous owners own motorcycles as well...
Any thoughts regarding the factory where it was made - or the VIN sticker instead of a metal plate?

Floridagull,
Thanks for the compliments, but my old Kymco is much more of a daily-driver "grocery-getter" than a showpiece... LOL! She keeps up with most traffic, and, rides as cushy-smooth as my old Harley bagger of the seventies, but... It's hard for a scoot to look truly cool with a giant trunk, but oh, does that trunk hold a LOT of groceries... And makes for a great "billboard" for eye-level multi-LED running, stop and signal lights! A big top-box almost hides factory rear lights from tailgating cars, and especially tall vehicles.
I think that eye-level light-show has saved me from a couple of potential rear-end "close encounters of the WORST kind".
And, white paint covers a multitude of flaws... She's got some road-rash here and there, but a little wax shines her up and the wax residue hides the dings... Aside from the whitewalls, saddlebags and fishtail exhaust, "Minnie Mouse" is bone-stock. I do have a pair of slick LED auxiliary lights I plan to add next season for better night-vision. Oh, and also a genuine minty 1940's CHROME SWAN hood ornament, with ILLUMINATED WINGS!
Be still my beating heart! I had one just like it on a 1950 Ford ragtop in my youth... SOOO tacky, but yet SOOO cool! I still need to figure out just how to mount it so it visually "flows" with Minnie's nose... The birdie is surely one addition that ONLY old geezers like myself will ever appreciate. Most young riders will say: "good grief, what IS that thing, and WHY would ANYBODY put it on a SCOOTER?"
All I can say is, same reason European Vespa riders put 20 headlights and 20 mirrors on their scoots...
Heck, just FINDING one of those ORIGINAL light-up swans, or nekkid ladies with wings in good shape is a monumental achievement these days... Once you FIND one, a guy's just GOTTA put it on something...
Doing weird stuff to a ride is just part of the fun of getting old.
Do keep us posted on what you do to your new ride! And do ENJOY it to the max!

Just be mindful that asking isn't the same as getting.
I see a lot of adds for scooters on Craigs List where they try to sell bikes for more than they paid for them because some web site lists the MSRP at triple of what they actually sell for.
I have a 2009 Aprilia Sport City 250 which for the last 2 or 3 years that they were available were sold for $2,999 yet you still see them on Craigs List for $2,600 to $3,500 or sometimes more listing the $4,699 MSRP from 2009 as the comparative value and some of the bikes have over 15,000 miles on them. In truth on a private sale they are only worth about $1,500 to $1,900 in fair to good condition and from a dealer around $2,300 if in perfect condition with extremely low mileage.
