Hey guys,
So I'm finally coming up on purchase day of my TaoTao Powermax 150. I was curious after just refreshing my knowledge on assembly and whatnot when a question popped in to my head regarding Loc-Tite...
Is there any nut, bolt, screw, etc where I SHOULDN'T put any Loc-Tite? I'm a freak about bolts or screws coming loose while riding, especially if my girl is out riding by herself, so I intend to make liberal usage of the blue (and red) stuff.

Sweet looking ride man. Digging the custom work you're doing to it.

Killer Motorsports is carrying these now. Now I've got a THIRD choice to think about thrown into the mix with the Powermax and Evo, and frankly, this one is winning by a mile on looks.

Occasionally when I get some really good ones I put one or two with some garlic cloves in a bottle of hamburger dill slices or sandwich wedges making my own hot mix. My kids are not amused when they fail to notice the peppers and grab the wrong bottle of dills. I've never thought to do that for some reason. Great idea!

Hm, I'm not sure that they would but I also have no problem paying for any little upgrades that will make my scoot run better and longer. The higher the load, the lighter weight sliders you want to go with, correct?
I'm absolutely getting some nice tires on day 1 on the road since I don't trust that China rubber one bit, especially riding with a passenger. Hoses and the like as well.
Do the performance carbs really make that much of a difference over the stock ones from factory?

Wow that's really impressive. I never even had the patience to tinker around with those pre-made model kits you can buy, even the beginner ones! lol
Thanks for sharing, my girlfriend's dad will get a kick out of this.

Ah well shucks, thanks for your help anyway ng5y, I really appreciate your input & help! You too Whimsymaker!
If anyone else has anything to add, please feel free. I'm still a good two weeks away from placing my order and biting the bullet one way or the other. I'm also welcome to suggested upgrades.

Maybe ng5y can chime in as to how the Evo handles with a passenger?

I agree a 250 would be more ideal, and the larger frame of the Evo is what has me torn between the two 150s. It seems like the slightly longer frame with the wider body would aid in those problems. Ultimately my scoot, unless I really wind up loving the thing, is just a quick solution to transportation problems right now and in the future I would like to up to either a 250cc bike or a more suitable cruiser scoot in the same engine class.
Around here the roads are all pretty flat, not a ton of twisties either where I travel to and from, so I'm hoping we'll be able to get away with it for the remainder of the summer and in to the fall.

Why is it that, of all things, they just can't figure out how to make a good fitting glove box on the cheap? lol
That one always puzzled me.

When you say two passengers, what will be the total weight? Combined we come in a little under the listed 350lbs weight capacity. About 330-340.

Thanks whimsymaker. That seems to be the other main differentiating factor between the two, the weight to acceleration/top speed ratio. Considering I plan to do a lot of two-up riding, that is kind of a big thing for me as I don't want to worry too too much about losing my ability to maneuver safely with a passenger. How long did you have, or how many miles roughly did you put on, your Powermax before you made the jump up to a Reflex? Did it give you issues often?

It's the ones with six eyes that you have to watch out for while the eight eyed spiders are generally pretty safe. Problem is that once your close enough to count the eyes its usually too late. I was bitten by a spider (possibly South American as I am sure I heard an accent) in November which left me bruised up like I had been beaten with a baseball bat and knocked me off my feet for several days. We set up a night vision camera one night while we were sitting out in the yard and it was a real experience viewing the video afterwards. Spiders floating by on parachutes made of web, scampering around on the ground around our feet and surprise, surprise an unnerving number of bats we did not have a clue were even there. My god... That sounds like my nightmare!

This thread has brought me so much joy haha. oldchopperguy you sure know how to tell a story. Being in South Jersey I don't have much to worry about on the snake front, but we do have some pretty nasty spiders that I have no desire to ever encounter crawling up my leg while cruising around (or at all!) since I'm allergic to most spider bites (not the deadly kind of allergic, just the swelly, painful, burning kind). I assure you that would be the first day I come here to tell a tale of me dumping my bike! Glad to hear it was simply a friendly "hey how are ya!?" rather than something serious!

ng5y thanks for your input. I appreciate it! I've mostly read and heard that the EVO is a complex mess to work on compared to the Powermax, which I suppose is one of my primary concerns. But then I ask myself, how much MORE complex can a GY6 setup possibly get from one model to another?
