alleyoop skuttadawg What can I tell my 4T mechanic to do to test and verify that the Oil Pump Assembly for 50cc 2-stroke Minarelli 1PE40QMB Jog engine is working correctly or not? While I have you -- same for the reed valve. IF I can avoid it, no more 2T's with only my 4T mechanic. :-) thanks!! Roy

alleyoop Thanks X2. I will tell the mechanic to focus on the oiling. He's a wiz on 4T. With us 6 years. 2T scare him. In fact -- he asked me this morning if anyone had written back. And -- he said the last 2T I did , it messed up. No more! :-) This is the 2T he was thinking exhaust. I'll let you know. In the meantime --- OTHER ideas from the troops are appreciated. Re: moving to 2T. Was that just created in the last 6 weeks or something. I remember an earlier 2T question I had, and thought to myself there should be a diff. thread. thanks, Roy!

I posted this a couple of weeks ago – now some new info. Starting clean.
This is a 2013 roughouse 50cc 2T scooter with 8000km on it. It came to us with 30psi and the exhaust loose at the cyl. head. The cylinder, piston and rings were "scorched black". We put a new jug kit in. Compression now 120. After properly attaching the exhaust the customer's test ride was all positive, even better than before. A few days later he comes back - scooter is dying up hills. Won't start again until it cools down. Only 100 miles put on this new kit.
Our test ride revealed the muffler Red Hot became red hot, and its performance decrease the longer you rode. Compression is still 120.
In taking off the exhaust the new bolt snapped off. We are thinking cuz of the heat. Then in taking the cylinder off – we find the top ring is “gone”, and piston and cylinder scorched.
Rather than just replacing it again, what do you guys think is causing this problem.

Hello all -- As I learn how to use this board etc., I have to first thank those I could not thank properly before : tvnacman, craisin, ramblinman, jerseyboy and alleyoop.

Thoughts?? ::: Muffler is what we are thinking - about to order once we have customer's approval. A supplier's mech. feels more inclined that it's the carb or aftermarket air filter. But, it's the stock air filter and clean.
I look forward to your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and comments. thanks, Roy

Finally!~!!! I can actually reply after those tests replies above. --- thanks guys for your feedback and ideas. I made note from what I learned from you. I had to get a past mechanic to come up. It turned out to be the replacement pick-up was also faulty. And – re: the cdi while testing we had the black wire out (to rule out kill switch problems) and then ran another wire from the grn ground to the engine (to rule out ground problems). Was this wrong? John - I think you stated what we did more clearly. Now working on another issue I've been searching posts with no luck, so I'll probably be posting another. At least I think I can now reply sooner :-)

Scooter fixed, but "I" still can't get my thank-you's and info. to post (newbie). I have tried both normal and "post quick reply", but I never see it in the string. Soo this is a test - using "reply" from the last post (alleyoop) instead of "Quick reply" section at the bottom. roy

Hi gents -- I have a customer here looking for a 250cc belt. All that is barely visable on the belt is Powerlink and Gates. He said an old 846 it is too small. I measure approx 932. It's 22 wide. He also states ZN250T-8 is on the motor. Also 244cc 4 stroke, with 12" tires. I find 918 on a search.
What do you think?

No fire -cdi, coil and plug test okay (or replaced). sooooooooooo - magneto, right?
What are we missing? Pick up trigger coil (pick up) is not giving any voltage reading when cranked. (r/bk is 40v +) both on AC, tested while cranking, with a new 5 wire stator and magneto - both, 8 pole.
We've replaced the trigger on the new stator after no spark, as the pin was flush.
The trigger is centered and about .02mm gap with the raised magnet on the magneto.
From the cdi we have run a ground jumper and removed the kill switch wire.
Trigger wire appears in tack.
What are we not thinking of, what else to try OR retry?
thanks to all

Exhaust is off, axle nut off, adj. brake adjuster all the way out -- starting beating on it. Also - been adding wd40 to rusted brakes. What are we forgetting? thanks!
