Also, it looks like I need to replace the shaft that the variator sits on. I completely stripped it last night. Is that even replaceable?

Top and bottom are set to 004. The bottom is slightly looser than the top, you could get an 005 in there if you really force it, but I think they are ok.

Pretty sure it was just sooty.
Going to tackle the valve cover now.

The end of the spark plug was black and the black rubbed off onto my fingers.

Ok I will get to the valves tonight. One thing, when I was trying to start it with the cvt cover off, it almost turned over but made a loud noise like metal snapping.

I took the plug out and tried to start it, the banging noise went away. To me, it sounds like the sound is coming from the CVT. I opened up the CVT cover and took over the Variator to make sure it wasn't the weights making the noise but everything seems fine there. One thing I noticed is the sound is louder with the CVT cover off...
I haven't checked the valves yet because I have to take off a bunch of stuff to get to it.

I should also say, in case it makes a difference, I've been leaving it outside in the rain, uncovered.

Hi again! So after a few weeks of running great, and about 500 miles of riding, I attempted to start the scooter today and it won't start. I noticed it's making a loud clicking noise when I try to start it. I recorded the clicking sound:

I didn't open the carb, took it out of box and put it right on, I have no idea what size jets it has All I know is I put 35 miles on the bike today with no issues, so I'm happy!

Do I really want to go as low as possible with the idle? I was able to get it to idle at 1100 and it was fine, but the wheel doesn't spin till like 2300-2400....should I bump that up when I readjust the mixture ?
EDIT: I guess I could always put the smaller belt back on too? Going for another ride, brb.

I took it out for a 7-10 mile ride. No stalling, idle was great, at one point I it was so quite I thought it stalled but it was running. I had no issues getting up to 50+ MPH. Only issue is a little lag on the pickup, so I need to mess with mixture screw some more. But, I can do that tomorrow, for now I'm going for another ride!

idling at 1250 rpm, doesn't seem to be any issues with throttle. I'm going to start putting the trim back on and take it for a ride.
