oldchopperguy Yes! Yeah! That means I get to meet and spend some time with you and "Minnie Mouse". I haven't been on a "Ride" in two years, and, that was a Mid-Night Run through Dallas. I really didn't do much of anything important to the bike after work today, but, the Title came in from the DMV. Now it's officially MINE. Loren

oldchopperguy Thanks Leo, thats's good to know then. I had changed out the gear oil the other day and had a very slow leak from from the drain screw. I knew I had tightened everything up and wiped it down, but, still getting a drip. So today, with the nice weather, I started draining it again and happened to notice the washer. The drain washer has two different sides. One side is solid copper color, the other is copper/silver. Where the silver radius is just a tiny, tiny bit thinner. I placed the copper/silver side toward the drain and installed the nut. After a few miles, of test riding, the leak has been stopped. After checking around for washer images, I think they are called Bonded Sealing Washers. But either way, by turning it around during the reinstall, it has sealed up the drip. Now I have peace of mind again and learned something new. Loren (riding drip free) in Dallas.

JR Okay, thank you. That puts that to rest in the back of my mind. Now it's down to the temperature gauge. The weather and my free-time have put this off. Though everything seems to be running fine, including the fan, kicking on. I've looked at everything I can get to without removing any of the plastics and don't see any loose connections. Until I can remove the front cowling, I have no access to the back of the gauge panel, where there's plenty of connections. While I'm in there, all in one session, I'd like to also install the LED Headlights, install the phone mount and change the flasher relay. After adding the LED signals I'm getting the hyper-flash problem. It's funny, though, my 150 didn't have that effect. I think I see it up in there...round, has three wires coming out (Bk, G, GR) above the right headlight. I'm now looking for an LED compatible flasher w/sound of some sort. What a nice looking scoot! Congrats on the step up. I am sure you'll love riding her! Be safe! Thanks spunn. Now it's time for the fun stuff, getting the step up,.... set up. I've already upgraded the signals and brakes to LED. But I'm not done yet. I had packages waiting for me at home after work yesterday. It was like Christmas as a kid again, but, for big boys. LED Headlights, Helmet w/Bluetooth, Phone Mount, Harness Adaptor, also an envelope from the DMV. Hoping that was my title, but instead, registration renewal for Yellow. Ah shucks. Loren

Very nice,,,looks to be a really great bike!!!!! Thanks cyborg. I'm still getting used to this one. As Leo pointed out, the turning radius, is a bit larger. This has been like driving a Smart Car (Yellow) and moving up to a Lincoln. But I am getting some nice leaning turns in with the added weight of the bike. It's nice to push back into the lumbar, put your feet forward and just lean back and cruise. Still don't have a name for her yet..... Loren

(5) Fill radiator completely with coolant, a long funnel is nice and doesn't make a mess. [USE ONLY COOLANT FREE OF NITRATES, BORATES, SILICATES & SPECIFIED FOR ALUMINUM BLOCK ENGINES] One can mix their own coolant on a 50/50 ratio but it is a lot easier to use a 50/50 premix (I use Prestone) Acutally, the first thing I did, was change the coolant. THEN I found your Big Guy PDI thread. That got me wondering if I had used the right coolant or not... it's neon yellow. I'm still not sure and that bothers me. I've checked Prestone's website and don't find anything concerning the chemicals listed in your post. And nothing to specific for aluminum blocks. I'm using the 50/50 shown here at Prestone. Although mine doesn't say "NEW" like the link above. Did I choose wisely? Loren

If you are talking about the CVT Cover, then no, nothing should come falling out. Behind it, you will find, the variator and clutch with the drive belt connecting the two. This is a screenshot of the lower photo. I'm guessing the oil leak you are referring to is the tiny "bulge" at the bottom of the nut. Though I don't see anything coming from the CVT, there may be a crankcase seal that is leaking.

00 So far so good, there are about 4 other riders on another Forum that have all done the same conversion. They are bright as crap and never use my high beams, maybe in the back mountain roads but in San Diego that is not often. Good to know. I ordered the H4/9003 set this past Saturday and have already changed over to LED everywhere else, except for, the gauges. I'm pretty sure I'll be fine. The listing shows only 30w/bulb and the current factory ones are, guessing 25w/bulb. They should be delivered by the weekend and weather permitting installed soon after. Thanks for the feedback and peace of mind. Loren

testing gauge/thermoswitch: turn key to run position. remove thermoswitch wire from thermoswitch and jumper it to ground. **CAUTION** IMMEDIATELY remove ground if gauge swings to full hot. if gauge needle moves then replace thermoswitch. if gauge needle doesn't move then remove ground and check voltage from sensor wire and ground if you get voltage then gauge is bad. if you don't get voltage then reground thermoswitch wire and check voltage between both wires on gauge. no voltage indicates a broken connection. (possibly a harness connection or some other wiring harness problem) voltage indicates bad gauge.. So far, I've made it down to checking for voltage at the thermoswitch connection,...nothing. I've looked up under the front cowling and can see the meter with the wires attached, but, haven't removed any of the plastics to get to it. With the cold weather here now, and brittle plastic that comes with it, I don't want to take a chance of breaking anything. I'll have to wait for some warmer days to get to the meter and check for voltage there. Or, might be able to fashion an extension to reach up there. But not while it's below freezing. But this is Texas, and, that could be tomorrow or next week.

Yelloscoot, Congratulations! Have a bone on the Old Chopper Guy! VERY good looking scoot. Looks like a cross between a Honda Reflex and my old "Minnie Mouse". You're going to like the increase in torque, horsepower and the solid feel over the 150. Thanks Leo. To be totally honest, I had you in mind, when I was picking this one out. I love the look of Minnie Mouse. You really are attached to her and she is serving you well. I'm hoping this one will stand the test of time. There's so much more to the 250's then the 150's. I'll be posting later about things I've noticed, with the new one, that I want to take care of. I really like Minnie's lowered "Ears", sharper lines, front vents and the flared windshield.
