Ok so some background. I bought this thing pretty cheap from a guy on craigslist. It ran. Drove it for two weeks or so and it stopped.
Bought a new carb, Cdi, Plug, Coil, and harness
I have hooked everything up and here is what I have ( from the rear forward)
- Brake switch and taillight are working
- Fuel gauge working
- Magnet pickup is giving a pulse
- Battery is staying maintained
- Turn signal bulbs and gauge bulbs are getting power
- Starter cyl kicks starter when start button is pushed
There are two plugs at this point that weren't on the previous harness. I will post pictures at the end of explaining what is working and what is now. but one plug is a four pin out style and the other two.
I am assuming that one is a kick stand switch that my bike didnt have on the older harness.
now getting on to where the main harness joins the top harness
- Volt reg is hooked up there
- Two main plugs are hooked up
There is a plug that has a cap on it with a looped grey wire, This plug was on the old harness with out the closed loop plug cap on it
- Ignition plug I have wired two male plugs to a two point switch because the bike did not come with an ignition tumbler
Now onto the top. I have the kill switch and the start button wired and the turn signals wired and as I said, Brake is hooked up
Here is what my main concern is right now
Motor will turn over
Stator maintains battery
Magnetic pickup is giving a pulse
I am not getting pulse from the cdi to the coil
This is leading me to believer that there is a killswitch problem somewhere
The switch itself was tested with the volt meter on top and bottom and it is clicking so its good...
