Ok so some background. I bought this thing pretty cheap from a guy on craigslist. It ran. Drove it for two weeks or so and it stopped. Bought a new carb, Cdi, Plug, Coil, and harness I have hooked everything up and here is what I have ( from the rear forward) - Brake switch and taillight are working - Fuel gauge working - Magnet pickup is giving a pulse - Battery is staying maintained - Turn signal bulbs and gauge bulbs are getting power - Starter cyl kicks starter when start button is pushed There are two plugs at this point that weren't on the previous harness. I will post pictures at the end of explaining what is working and what is now. but one plug is a four pin out style and the other two. I am assuming that one is a kick stand switch that my bike didnt have on the older harness. now getting on to where the main harness joins the top harness - Volt reg is hooked up there - Two main plugs are hooked up There is a plug that has a cap on it with a looped grey wire, This plug was on the old harness with out the closed loop plug cap on it - Ignition plug I have wired two male plugs to a two point switch because the bike did not come with an ignition tumbler Now onto the top. I have the kill switch and the start button wired and the turn signals wired and as I said, Brake is hooked up Here is what my main concern is right now Motor will turn over Stator maintains battery Magnetic pickup is giving a pulse I am not getting pulse from the cdi to the coil This is leading me to believer that there is a killswitch problem somewhere The switch itself was tested with the volt meter on top and bottom and it is clicking so its good... Now onto the pictures. Cdi Wiring: Mystery plugs rec/volt reg start button and kill switch Hope this helps someone help me. Thanks if there is anything you need to know let me know and I have more pics as well. Sorry for the photo quality. My phone sucks. lol but if you need to skype or text or call me I can do that as well Located in Nc but a Colorado number Thanks again -Kevin

you can not measure the output from the cdi to the coil .
What seems to be the problem ?

Ok, I wasnt sure and didnt think so but I tried. Im not getting any spark at all grounding the plug on the frame and no spark there either What im thinking is that I have the kill switch wires wrong or it has something to do with those two plugs beside the battery that arent connected to anything.
On the kill switch there are two plugs. From testing with the volt meter the plug with the two outer connectors goes on the bottom and the one with the two side by side wires goes on the top.
I was under the assumption that this harness would be pretty straight forward. Which it is but there just isnt any spark

To eliminate the CDI being grounded just take the TOP WIRE on the TWO plug on the CDI out and then see if it fires. If it still does not fire then it is not a problem with the KILLWIRE. That two plug with a green and white could be for the ENRICHER if you have one otherwise many harness's come with extra plugs for options that may not be on your scoot. So as long as the correct plugs are going to the CDI and the R/R and the ignition and the lighting and brakes and gauges the rest or extra. Is the motor GROUNDED to the FRAME if not then the plug will not fire. Alleyoop

Yes the motor and the harness are both grounded to the frame, I will unhook the black/white kill wire from the cdi right now and try it. Thanks

Puled the kill switch wire out of the cdi and still nothing so at least we ruled out the kill switch thing. I am at a loss here. I am ready to give up...

are you getting power and pulse from the stator for ignition ?
show us the stator plugs . I think you have the regulator plugged into the wrong plug . should be green white yellow red .

Ok and the bottom wire on the TWO PLUG is getting 40vac -100Vac when cranking and the TRIGGER wire on the TOP LEFT 4 plug is getting anywhere from .25 to ?.? Vac? If so then it is either your CDI or a Coil problem. Alleyoop
Here is an excellent testing procedure to determine which one is the culprit: As you know Stator, Pickup, CDI, Coil and Boot Cap and Plug is the flow so one of those suckers is the culprit and you eliminated the KILL already.

Yeah I am getting power and pulse from the stator Here is the picture of that plug. If it is too blurry I can go out and take some more.

That is really odd because I have the stock cdi and coil that I have tried and a brand new coil and cdi. Ill go back out there and test that one more time with the volt meter to see what I am getting and I will get back with you asap
Thanks again guys. If I dont get it by tom after work im going to throw it in the truck and take it to the scooter shop down the road

Check at the stator and the cdi . Let us know what you find . John

Yeah I am getting power and pulse from the stator Here is the picture of that plug. If it is too blurry I can go out and take some more. what is that, black tape around a wire splice???this type of splice must be made with crimp on butt connectors or it will soon fail. waterproofing the splice will go a long way at preventing water corrosion. i had similar problems when i purchased my "moped" about 7 or 8 years ago. i finally gave up on "repairing" the harness and ripped the whole darned thing out of the scoot and started from scratch. never had an electrical problem since. my poor scoot finally bit the dust about 2 years ago and it has sat out back since then. will it ever run again? i doubt it, not without an engine rebuild. anyway, yeah, electrical problems are a real hoot for sure. about the kill switch: on my bike it was essentially "grounding the plug". try not to disable too many "safety" features. good luck.

i finally gave up on "repairing" the harness and ripped the whole darned thing out of the scoot and started from scratch. That is essentially what I had to do recently. Got the engine running and will follow up with other accessories after customizing. There are too many wires on these things but wiring is not that complex once on figures out the flow and colors. lol One wire hooked to the wrong place and nada.
