I just recently got a gy6 no name bike to run short runs to the store and such to save gas. It ran pretty well but it would shake sometimes and cut off at a stop light unless I held the gas. The other morning I went to start it up and it had trouble starting but it started and tan no problem. Let it sit for a couple of days and today I went to take off a cracked panel to repair it and realized that the wiring was all jacked up and loose(not taped up as a harness should be). All the connections were fine. Went to start it and no start. Checked the carb, Sprayed some Starter fluid and nothing. Looked to the firing side, Pulled the plug and boot, no spark, not on the engine or frame when tested....Used a volt meter and I am getting power to the rectifier and the cdi I am getting a pulse from the stater to the coil. So.....Coil??? Boot??? Plug??? Is there anywhere I can look to buy these locally and not have to order them and how much do they usually run?
Thanks -Kevin

Needing to hold the gas to keep it running after it is hot points to probably the exhaust valve is not sealing and needs to be adjusted. If it is a 50cc set them both to .003 inchs if its a 150cc set them both to .004 inchs. The Boot and plug you can get at any auto parts store but not the coil. Since there were some wiring issues, check the ground wire from the frame to the motor without that or bad ground the spark plug will not fire. Alleyoop

50cc,
It is grounded in the same spot that have the stater grounded. Ill get the thing running then gap the valves later. testing with a meter I have a good connection from frame to motor but I am grounding it on the bolt that attaches the Stater cover to the motor. Do you think there is a better place to ground it?
Also having to hold it to Wot to start the motor.

So the motor DOES START THEN, but you adjust the valves when the motor is COLD not hot and NOT RUNNING. So FIRST adjust the valves. Better ground for the motor is a bolt on the Valve cover to the FRAME. Then follow this procedure to adjust the carb: Alleyoop itistheride.boards.net/thread/12/4ts-carb-tuning

Cleaning the carb might not be a bad idea also. Small jets clog easily

New Cdi, Coil and plug and nothing as far as spark goes, Broke out the volt meter on the stator pickup and there was no signal. Ordered a new stator last night so we Ill see if that does it. Jets are fin. Bowl is filling up..gas is going all the way through and out the drain when I suck on the vacuum line from the petcock. Def a wiring/spark issue.
Thanks for the help guys!
