Last one. The cylinder cooling fins had to be ground down to fit between the foot pegs. Attachments:

Exhaust. I just found out it is actually off an old Honda dirt bike, not an Aero 80 Attachments:

I'm also having problems with the float bowl leaking out the overflow. I've cleaned the carb several times and I don't think the float is sticking. It doesn't seem to overflow when the bike is running though. I'm starting to think I might be better off upgrading to a new carburetor, although I don't know what, if any aftermarket carbs will bolt right up to an NC50 intake. I'd like to be able to replace the jets because of the big bore kit and high flow exhaust. The stock carb has non replaceable press-in jets.

It has point ignition so there's no CDI. It has 5200 miles on it. It does have fresh fuel and oil. The plug is not new but it has a strong blue spark. I did clean the entire carb.

I've been fighting like mad to get my "new" '78 NC50 to run right. The idle jet was clogged, and I worked my bum off to get that unclogged. It's still not running very well, but it's a little better. It's idling ok now, but when I roll the bike off the centre stand, or jolt it in any other way, it wants to die. If I come to a stop really fast, it bogs down and I have to give it throttle till it comes back up to idle speed and smooths out. I'm new to working with two strokes, so any help would be great. Oh, I'm also having problems with the bike cutting out it mid throttle. It'll run at low throttle and WOT, but it cuts out in between.

I just bought a very nicely restored 1978 Honda Express NC50 with a few "extras". It has a 70cc big bore kit and an exhaust from a Honda Aero 80. This thing will do 45 when it's properly tuned! The only real problem with it is there is a hole between the fuel and oil tanks, so I can't use the oil injector. A new tank is almost $100 on ebay. I'm content just premixing my fuel at this time. It didn't take me long to have my first spill. I was leaving a friend's place and his yard was muddy. I'm not used to the torque on this thing and I gunned the throttle and the rear end shot out from under me and I flopped on the ground. I have a pretty painful bruise on my leg from the frame hitting it. Over all I love this bike! I'll post pics later.

I definitely learned some lessons here about not letting other people ride my moped, and keeping my bike maintained properly.

I made the mistake of letting a friend borrow my bike to make a trip out of town to buy a scooter. It was starting to get dark by the time he got back into town. My bike's head and tail lights are not functioning properly, so I had some high quality bicycle lights mounted to it till I could repair the lights. Well, my friend never turned them on, and he got pulled over. Instead of just explaining the situation to the cop, he decided to mouth off and have an attitude. The cop gave him a $125 ticket for riding a moped without lights, and he almost impounded my bike. He told my friend to tell me that if he saw the bike on the road without properly functioning lights he would impound it and take whoever was riding it to jail. He said the bicycle lights would no longer be good enough. I immediately borrowed some money from a friend and got all the stuff to repair the lights. As frustrating as it was, I know the cop was right. It's still an equipment violation that had to be fixed.

Well, it was just a bad bulb. the filament was just barely making contact with one of the wire thingies it attaches to so it was flickering on and off.

Wow! All I did was ask a simple question about a scooter and I get all this? It doesn't matter anyway, the guy sold his ' Elite and got a '99 Elite with the later DIO engine that's easier to find performance parts for.

Does anyone know of a good source for performance parts for a pre 1994 Honda Elite 50?
