There is rust all over that thing. look at the shocks. It didn't live in a garage I suspect. It looks like it was never washed. If the owner didn't bother to wash it, would he bother to maintain it? I notice it is sitting in the rain for the photos. I would pass.

I have used super glue. That final twist breaks it off the screw driver. What ever it takes.

A disk brake lock is enough to stop the honest people. Same for a wheel lock. Real thieves you can't stop. That is where the GPS comes in.
On mine there are good spots near the tank, near the CDI, Under the battery tray, but still inside the under skin. Behind the front panel. Near the voltage regulator if it just looks like a scooter part. Anywhere on the bottom side of the floor piece, but still protected by the outer bottom skin. You can run unseen wires there also. Most dealers will not tell you where they place their GPS units for obvious reasons. I asked when mounting my GPS unit, they laughed, and then explained. Remember the GPS needs a SIM card. T-Mobile charges $10 for their cheapest plan, but the minutes expire every days. Expect to spend $10 every 3 months to track you scoot by GPS. This is much cheaper than the companies that offer a "service plan".
My buddy has a cheap scooter alarm. He didn't hook up the remote starter, but once he got the motion sensor adjusted correctly, it works fine. Anyone trying to move it sets off the horn. It was less than $20 on eBay.

Old gas = wrench time. You decide on how you want to spend your time. You can fill a scooter with fresh gas for $4.

The other members were rightfully razzing me about ankle protection. I was watching some crash videos on youtube at a friend's house. The shoes go flying right away. In almost every video you can see the riders tennis shoes flying through the air. I changed my footware to something that laces up over the ankles. If you don't have to walk in them, you can find some inexpensive armored m/c boots from China on eBay. Don't expect arch support, but the armor is pretty good. They arrived in 2 days, cool. Keep some walking shoes in your bag.

Man I was thinking about Gary Busey. You beat me to it. We see the results on "Worlds Dumbest" every few weeks.

Just not sure I would pay $750 to a guy who blue duct tapes a seat. A seat is $44 w/free shipping. If he didn't take care of the seat, what about the rest of the scoot?
Heck you can buy a scoot on Amazon, just search. eBay is the home of all "drop and run" deals. If you can turn a wrench, and watch a PDI video online, you can save some $$, Check their ratings first.
I found 150cc scoots for $695 and $250 shipping legal in New York online with my first Google search.

That is a lot of money for that specific scooter. For another $100 -$200 you can get a new one delivered to your door if you can do the PDI.

It took this guy 10 minutes to say he is using a piece of plastic or rubber hose to hold a non metallic screw on a screwdriver.
It works, I can say that much. Woodworkers, and mechanics have been using clear tubing, vacuum line, fuel line, etc. for this for years.

A small battery conditioner is a real money saver. These batteries are EXPENSIVE for such small things.
The 3 stage units seem to make your battery last longer. It is easy to hide the scooter side electrical connector (included with the battery conditioner) behind the inspection hatch.
Harbor Freight has some $7 units that will work, but come with simple battery clamps and no provision for a "plug in" installation like this one:
It came with a Cigarette lighter adaptor, and a batter clamp adaptor (not shown). It cost a little over $20

OldChopperGuy, I found, like you, China scoots hate water. Very strange for a machine that comes from a country that has very wet regions.
The wife thing..... My wife (at the time) wanted to spend more time with me. What she wanted was for me to hang out in the living room and watch her read. I took a video, and she gave me a break ;-)

Something to keep in mind is being stopped at a stop sign, or light on a fast road. If the sun is in the eyes of the drivers behind you, they may not see the light or you.
I keep my front wheel pointed towards an escape route, and I watch my mirror. I just made it out of the way of a guy that blew through a light at 45. He only put on his breaks after he zoomed by me, missing by inches.
