I'm just offering options. You could buy a kit, or drill it out; just as long as you don't drill away too much. Where would I get a jet kit for a Keihin carb? How do I know what model carb I have?

Ok, I put the snorkel back in... it did not help so I stopped by the scooter dealers shop... they found the problem. The intake elbow from the carb to the head was cracked! The mechanic replaced it and tried to say I owed $20... I said no thanks, it's under warranty. Glad I got the warranty lol. Anyway, I took the restrictor back out, readjusted the idle after it was warmed up real good and the scooter is doing great! No more bogging at ALL when I very quickly wrap the throttle and let off or when I gas it good and lock up the back brake... it just comes right back to idle and does it quick and smooth. Now I can finish my mods.

I am putting the inner snorkel back in the airbox... will let you know if it helps with the slight bogging at stop lights. What would the jets be in my Keihin (sizes) and which one(s) do I need to change if I put the NCY exhaust on and do I need to open the airbox up at THAT point?

I tried the .015in gap... it wasn't happy. It idled fine but when I tried to take off it bogged. I set it at .022in and it seems fine again. However, I did remove the snorkel from the air box and it did not like that. It was the piece with the 4 small holes in it. As soon as I put it back on the scooter was fine so I don't know if the .015in gap was actually the problem. I may put the restriction back in the air box to see if less air helps as well. She may be slightly rich.

Thanks, I am enjoying it... this one actually goes. The 2010 barely hit 30mph wot on flat ground. Pretty soon I will be ordering an NCY exhaust. I have plans for an all Rockford Fosgate stereo complete with two 4" coaxial speakers and an 8" subwoofer in a fiberglass enclosure under the seat and two amps in the trunk. But that's down the road, after the exhaust and this time a 100cc BBK. We will see how it goes. I have also found some nice aluminum rims.... I have a list of things I want lol. Found some killer mirrors... gonna do LED in the gauge cluster... I want it to pretty much look stock when its on the center stand but make you go WOW when its running.

I like the LED for the front, wanna buy one for mine as well, but have 5500km on mine, and haven't done anything to it (but oil changes, and replaced the rear/brake light with a LED), so I think mine might not last very long anymore. At best I hope to get another 5,5k km out of it, and retire the thing. I recommend before 4500km to do your valve adjustment. I started noticing some buzz at the valves, at around 5k KM. I may have another laying around... they were tag lights on my Camaro and my Nissan 200sx. I still have my feeler gauges from my first 2010 TaoTao 50... specifically bought to do the valves. I switched my factory plug today for an NGK... it seems to be running poorly when I stop now and actually bogged down and shut off twice. The factory plug looked fine, color was a nice chocolate color and was gaped at .022 inch... I gaped the NGK at .026. Its is also not C7HSA but is the C6HSA... ooops. I am hoping it will be ok when I get the performance coil here soon in the mail. I think I will pull the NGK and see how it looks tomorrow.

Well, as with most people who buy transportation that join forums, I am not satisfied with stock. I have not long had my scooter, as a matter of fact it hasn't hit 300km on the odometer yet. I have a Keihin on my scooter... I would like to know what this cable is for. It is adjustable via screwdriver at the circled area. Is this a fuel level adjustment?

howdy, and welcome to the forum. was that purchase from a dealer? if so you can check to see if a decent pdi was done and what all was replaced---that's great lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken Thanks, yes, it was from a dealer. When I decided to get it they changed the battery to a larger capacity battery and took off the stock carb and put on a Keihin carb. I wanted it because it was really moving quickly around the large parking lot. I went over the entire scooter that night and checked all nuts and bolts, wire tied loose wires, changed the oils and checked the belt and rollers. All looked well. I have since broken it in, installed a DLH performance variator, Took out the restrictive hose in the intake tube from the airbox, 1000 rpm clutch springs and a 1000 rpm main spring, mixed rollers (5g and 9g) I think. On flat ground it is at 45mph no wind (gps), on a 3/4 mile long, straight hill it is holding steady at 36mph 4-6% stepped incline but I don't know for sure (gps) and going down the hill 59mph (gps). I have put a 6000K LED (194 bulb [T10]) in the front lower parking light and two 6000K 18 LED outdoor strips under the body, only the glow is visible and they are hard wired to come on when the key is on. I think it is doing pretty well for me being 195lbs. Gonna get an exhaust soon and I have my coil and spark plug coming in the mail.

I have never used a "tool" for holding the variator in place... I use a box wrench... I found one a long time ago that I could use int the QMB139 short case. If I am removing the nut I wedge the closed end of the wrench in the upper webbing of the case and the open end on the variator where the starter gear hits it. The open part of the wrench is at the 4-5 O clock position. If you have never done it, practice. It will come to you quickly. I just place the wrench in the opposite fashion for putting the nut back on. (i.e. closed end in the lower case webbing, open end at the 1-2 O clock)
