howdy, i have to report that my bv350 quit running and it would seem on that model that the weak link is the spark plug wire which i suspect is the problem. AAA hauled it today the 45 miles or so to the dealer who has already replaced it once. we'll see---someone seems determined to suck all the money out of my wallet and bank reserves. my cell phone went south to the tune of 300+ last week.

howdy, i just re-read the post above by ranger. there is probably a mistype when he states that the motor has to have five horsepower or LESS. i assume the intent is five horsepower or MORE

howdy and welcome to the forum. do you have the knowledge to instruct her regarding how to safely operate the scooter? many will probably jump in and suggest strongly that you invest in all the safety gear because as a new rider she WILL spill it at some point and we would not like to see a thread about injuries to her and need for repairs to the scooter. that said---

howdy leo, yup i've been really pleased with my bv350 which has seen mph on the speedometer and still gets 60 mpg everywhere i go. it would be i think, the best upgrade for the money if you can spare it. mine has better than 15,000 on it now in a little less than 2 years. the reason i'm so conscious of icing is that i did extensive mods on a datsun 510 motor with porting and polishing and matching and everything i could think of to do but in doing that i lost the carb heat system and it would ice up and quit running when conditions got just right. i'd just have to pull over and let it melt then buzz on down the road. nice sounding motor when i got done. lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

howdy, i'll chime in with the vote that the answer to the question is very much dependent on the area of the country and whether it is permissable to get on the shoulder to let traffic by then resume the travel lane. also on the laid-back-ness of the population. i have ridden the freeway extensively on the hd200 and felt entirely safe even on the mountain passes. but that is in an area of pretty laid back traffic and with me exercising the option to get out of the way when i saw traffic situations which put me in danger.

howdy, i'm not intending to be facetious or asking with some kind of agenda. does removing the airbox and using the aforementioned sock filter give you any problem with icing of the carburator or water ingestion when it rains?

howdy, how about using these with pure electric cars to run small generators for emergency power to get you to the neares charging station. or auxiliary power for a/c pump. i don't know, it seems to me the possibilities are endless for something so light and simple without need for muffler or cooling.

howdy, yup, i also have a realy light overpant that has a zipper and is mostly waterproof. my problem is getting them off since i can't bend enough to grab them so they have to open enough too step on the cuff with the other foot to get them off. that makes it impossible to do with elastic on the cuff. the kind that open up entirely would maybe work but i would not want a movie take of the attempt----

howdy and thanks for the pic's and the write up. i really like to see peoples different ways to enjoy thier scooters. i just rode the 25 miles or so each way to have lunch with a friend and ran into rain on the return. temperature about 50 degrees but cool with the rain. i stopped at the honda shop and they have a pair of riding pants with zipper most of the way up the outer leg and velcro closures to make a final seal. it looks like they will work. the whole dealership is moving in january so i think i'll go back in december and offer a reduced price from the 150 bucks they are asking. u would be suggesting it would be better to sell than move it-----

howdy, interesting, they would certainly make a good add on power for a standard bicycle or tricycle. i'd also be interested if they can run an intershaft and stack them. if you put ten in a row you have a little more hp than my bv350. i expect sizing up would be more efficient because of the problem of phasing ten of them . still it is interesting. thanks for the thread

hoedy, the above is the issue probably in that the crazies want that vehicle to have airbags and seatbelts and crash test ratings and such which would add so much weight and complexity that the advantages of the trike completely go away. then when they have all that added , the insurance also has to go to what a car is which adds even more cost to the whole "affair". here just liability for a car is usually over three hundred a year where a motorcycle(scooter) is one hundred. it is the do gooders that are trying to force everyone into thier concept of acceptable that are the problem.

howdy, i quess i just have to chime in. i was totally disabled for 9 years before which i had always had motorcycles up to and including the gl1100 gold wing . oncy i recovered enough to look at two wheelers, i found i couldn't swing the leg over much of a machine without risking going down in spasms. so--the hd200 was bought to see if i would and could ride and soon i found myself over the mountain passes and far away on the freeway---i could and would ride. after the grand vista and bv500 i,m on the bv350 and have put on over 15,000 in the last two years. i still have problems getting on and off and find i have to use the sidestand to prop up the scooter and get on board , then balance it up and go. but i can go where i would not be able without the step through. also, i've been , as someone mentioned, very conscious of my impact on the environment and practiced what my dad told me his grandfather had told him about how to make his new boots last longer----wear the old ones! i ride the scoot to minimize my impact on the environment and minimize my consumption of resources. howdy, i also didn't know the music was there because i keep the speakers off unless actively listening to something. i also didn't appreciate the leaves floating about because it was distracting to me BUT i consider it a priviledge to be here with you all and it IS your playground and it gives you pleasure to provide the "extras" so keep up the good work-- thanks for all you do JR and the crew.
