howdy, i may be like pulling the dogs ear and might get bit but here goes. i mostly use the front brake because i want to equalize the wear between the front and rear tire. that means i come to stops more gently by starting the braking sooner and not coming in to the stop where max braking is needed. thus for my usage the drum brake is more than adequate. i do realize that should the situation require max braking , i may not have the max possible though i have ridden thousands of miles with drum brakes and found that one can still lock up the rear. that indicates to me that drum brakes are more than adequate. just a suggestion that perhaps one can save the money from changing the brake and put that into something different for safety or comfort.
peace

howdy and welcome to a functioning forum. i well remember cicily when there were still piles of horse manure on the cobblestones- heh heh . i rode down from rome on the train which was taken apart into two car sections and put on the ferry and re- assembled on cicily. no-one wanted to speak english but german was ok --- i actually met a wwII german u-boat commander there and spoke to him at length. he spoke good english and arabic required in order to become a u-boat commander.

howdy and welcome to the forum
i can't help you in that particular scooter, but the ones i have worked on have screws in the area just in fron of the rider that when removed allow the section the headlight is in to be removed. from there it should become mor obvious how to get to the instrument panel.

howdy, would it be just as safe to clean out an old plastic quart oil container and put fuel in it? one could then use that fuel occasionally to keep it from getting stale.? you would want to secure the lid with duct tape or something so vibration did not cause the lid to unscrew itself.

howdy, not pointing fingers or calling names, but steves' post lets me know that if i drain the hose after the pump shuts off , i have stolen 5 cents worth from the next customer. not saying i have not done that , in fact i traveled half way across the country many years ago for a total cost of 1 cent per mile and a few times stopped at closed stations and drained the hoses on all the pumps to get to the next one.

howdy, and welcome to the forum. was that purchase from a dealer? if so you can check to see if a decent pdi was done and what all was replaced---that's great

howdy dirk and welcome to the forum. it sounds like a great project when you can start with 0 cost. on the subject of fuel, maybe the reason it started is that the fuel in it was non-ethanol fuel meaning that the only deterioration would be loss of octane. if you can find non-ethanol fuel it will be better. heare in oregon it seems the only such fuel is premium which unless your gy6 i somewhat "hopped up" it would not need.

howdy, on the subject of splashing out when full. i find i cannot fill anywhere near full without it bubbling out some. i have a 3.5 gallon tank. i get 60 mpg and here's what i did to avoud the spillover or bubble out. before i fill, i calculate what it should take to fill it, then have the pump attendant(oregon) set the pump to the dollar amount i know will go in the tank. when it is near the amount the pump pressure reduces say a dollar before it gets to the limit so none spills out. so if i drove 150 miles it should take 2.5 gallons or @4.00 a gallon that would be 10.00 dollars. i usually buy 9 bucks worth and fill without concern. OR when the low fuel warning light comes on i know it will take 2.2 gallons to fill it so if i fill soon after the warning light comes on, i know about how much it will take and limit the pump amount accordingly. i know thats kind of ocd behavior but i don't want ANY splash out and go to extremes to avoid it

howdy , yup i 'member that too
say, while i've got your attention, i'm sure that for most people the new colors for different attributes are terrific, some of them "wash out" for me against the background color. i know i'm red green deficient and that causes problems for me so i'm not necessarily asking for something different, just mentioning it so that if new colors are coming, maybe make them contrast more against the background.
thanks again for what you are doing

howdy, i'm not a mechanic so my suggestion is just conversation but that sounds like a high tension system problem to me. that would be from the coil or cdi to the plug.

howdy, leo, yup the grande nosed vista will take the freeway. i rode mine on a 320 miles stretch of freeway, and 320 miles back. that's when i noticed the seat was uncomfortable. the point is , take some trips and enjoy. i put 8,000 trouble free miles on mine before upgrading to the piaggio bv500. the lady i sold it to was tickled to get it---in white---.
