So I finally had some more time to play with my 50cc scooter.. It seems to run great, but with my 250 lbs body on it I can only get it to abut 20.. 25 on a long straight.. So is it my weight holding it back or the cvt?? How can I tell if its working right?? I can tell you the rear spring loaded part is very tight and needs to be "open" to fit the belt on.. So is it supposed to "close" at speed??
Thanksw

I tried everything, it just does not slip on.. I spent over 30 min trying, and no it should not take that long.. I even cut it try to slip it on and then clamp it, and it still would not really fit.. I'm wondering if the DSPO replaced the carb with another ??

A month ago I picked up a scooter with blown bearings in the "trans".. Some may remember I could not find one of the bearings.. I ended up ordering it from a firm out of England (could not find it locally), and it finally showed up this week.. So after spending 4 hrs on it today, she is riding again.. With some issues..
First, will not go beyond about 20-25 ish.. Could this be due to the fact that my air box is not connected to the carb, I can't get the intake tube to slide over the throat of the carb for the life of me, and I tried everything !!
Second there seems to be a lot of resistance in the rear drive' could the bearings need to break in??? I drove it around 5 miles and I think it was getting better the more I drove it, but maybe it was all in my head.. I'm going to change out the oil and try again tomorrow.,
Glad I got it running again, I'm sure sorting out the odds and ends will be fine.

Drain plug

I finally ordered the last bearing I needed and hope to get my scooter back into running order soon.. However I just noticed I'm also apparently missing a drain plug for the gear box.. Any ideas how or where to get a replacement?? I can't seem to find it online anywhere!!

That's what I thought but he miked it right in front of me, both mine and his and then showed me the book and his was right.. There is something up with mine, and he could not seem to cross reference the sizes that mine actually was.. These are pics of what's left of the bearing one mine. Also, if the bearing gets pressed onto the shaft how does it also get pressed into the case ??

So I thought I had everything I needed, I thought I was ready to go.. Apparently not I am replacing the bearings in my gearbox as per my other thread and apparently the scooter uses a special 6303 bearing in the main shaft.. It is not the same size as a regular 6303 I got from my parts store (the parts store one was larger).. The od of the outer race on my bearing measures 1.6 something, his was 1.8 something.. He checked his book to see if his was miss boxed and the book says a 6303 should be 1.8 and change.. Where can I get the proper 6303?? Second question, I'm assuming the two bearings on the final shaft are pressed onto the shaft, is this correct?? If so how do they also get pressed into the case of the gear box?? Lastly I seem to be missing the drain plug for the gearbox where can i get a new one? Thanks

[replyingto=salracer]sailracer[/replyingto]No, but that bearing seems to be ok as well.. No crunching no noise.. I'm gonna get it back together and see what it does..
I figured I needed to unseal the bearings, thought they would get to hot without oil cooling them down..

[replyingto=pmatulew]pmatulew[/replyingto]Great advice got one from advanced auto.. Pulled them right out... All but one, fortunately it was in good shape with no signs of metal shavings. I was able to order new bearings from my local napa..
HOWEVER they only had sealed bearings, can I use them or should I pop the seals off??
Thanks again for all of your guys help.

Just wondering is it possible to add on a oil filter?? Also how much oil does the typical 50cc motor hold??
