I knew it was a maintenance idiot light I googled for it, So which was the way to reset the Idiot light Slot or push button and where so for future folks it will be recorded here. Alleyoop You push and hold the 'M' button that is below the odometer. Then you're good for another 1000 miles. (Note to self: read the manual cover to cover even the real small stuff, don't skip anything)

howdy there sym. I had and liked the hd200 and was just in spain where they are quite popular. as to the reset, i'm not sure how it is done but would suspect that to be the problem. I was there on my piaggio last year and surprised that the dealer in meridian was closed and only the small dealer in boise to handle that whole area. I hope they are handling more selection and growing. it will make it easier for you. the owner also had an rv200 if I remember rightly. lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken Gave the 'ol girls that own Scooters of Boise a call yesterday and yes (dumb me) it is a maintenance reminder and told me how to reset it. The number of scoots on their showroom floor has almost doubled since this past spring. They even had a used Piaggio in there, but I didn't look at the year or price. They've gotten so busy with the price of gasoline again they've hired two more young guys to help them.

Oil light

Yesterday I was on the way home from getting some oil for the 2000 mile oil change on my 2013 SYM RV200. A couple blocks from my house the oil light started flickering and then stayed on. Oil level was normal and motor wasn't overheated. I did my oil change and the oil light stayed on. I'm thinking defective oil sending unit. Any other thoughts? My dealer is closed today (still under its 2-yr warranty) so I will definitely be calling them in the morning.

My brother doesn't work in the building but his 'watering hole' is at 10th and Main. Immediately called him to see if he had to many adult beverages and got lost going back to work after lunch.

Turns out it was an idiotic manager riding a 50cc scooter on the three floors. He was showing it off as a sales incentive that someone could win for the most sales. We all know that's how you get into management: show a lack of intelligence.

Did you try adjusting the fuel/air mixture?

My commute is about 17 miles each way on country roads riding 40-55 mph. Thoroughly enjoy the ride especially in the mornings when there's very little if any traffic. Stop signs are 1-3 miles apart so there is plenty of stop and go riding.

I am NOT comfortable with just the thought of driving it on the highways with the semis doing 65-70++ mph. They pull my car when they barrel past. I shudder to think what would happen on my scoot. >'Kat You could get sucked into the back end and ripped apart. Happened to my grandmother's nephew on his way back to Florida 22 years ago. My new SYM topped out at 74mph on the Interstate. However it was at 4:00 in the morning during breakin (1 mile from exit to exit) just so I could let it know that it was possible to go fast. That will be the only time it will be on the Interstate. I wouldn't even ride a full dressed HOG on the interstate around here; there are just to many idiots in 4-wheels swerving in and out of traffic.

My old 2006 Tank was definitely a 'cheap chinese' scooter price wise and quality. However it gave me 18,000 miles and 7 years of somewhat reliable transportation. In that number of miles I replaced the piston and cylinder once and the entire engine/cvt once. My commute to work is 18 miles each way averaging 50mph. Just kept running the guts out of the poor thing. Retired it by selling it to a guy I work with and his son rides it 5 miles each way to school. It deserved a rest.

I've been pondering a question since I bought my SYM in September. Are they classified as a 'Chinese' scooter or not? Since it was manufactured in Taiwan and the Speedo and Odometer actually work I've been prone to calling it 'half-chinese'. Any thoughts?

The difference between it and the old Tank is the difference between a Ford and a Rolls. Shhhhh. The party line here is that there is no difference or rather that if there is it's because you paid 5 times too much... All jokes aside welcome back. What was your old name?? Tankgunner on some, Tankrider on others. I hope there are other SYM owners around so after my warranty expires we can scratch our heads together. I don't have any hair to pull out since I'm old and bald already.

Have been a member (still am on one or two) of other scooter forums since 2006 when I bought my Tank150T. Hadn't logged on to one of the other sites this year until today and read a PM from March with a link to this site. My previous usernames had to do with riding a Tank. I just received my new 2013 SYM RV200 last Friday. The difference between it and the old Tank is the difference between a Ford and a Rolls.
