Oil light

Yesterday I was on the way home from getting some oil for the 2000 mile oil change on my 2013 SYM RV200. A couple blocks from my house the oil light started flickering and then stayed on. Oil level was normal and motor wasn't overheated. I did my oil change and the oil light stayed on. I'm thinking defective oil sending unit. Any other thoughts? My dealer is closed today (still under its 2-yr warranty) so I will definitely be calling them in the morning.

Its just a maintenance reminder, there should be a reset button or slot in the dash if its a slot you stick the KEY in and push and I think you have to hold it down for a few seconds. The light come on about every 1000km or so. Alleyoop

howdy there sym. I had and liked the hd200 and was just in spain where they are quite popular. as to the reset, i'm not sure how it is done but would suspect that to be the problem. I was there on my piaggio last year and surprised that the dealer in meridian was closed and only the small dealer in boise to handle that whole area. I hope they are handling more selection and growing. it will make it easier for you. the owner also had an rv200 if I remember rightly.
lotsa miles and smiles to ya ken

The number of scoots on their showroom floor has almost doubled since this past spring. They even had a used Piaggio in there, but I didn't look at the year or price. They've gotten so busy with the price of gasoline again they've hired two more young guys to help them.

Don't know about your SYM, but our 2008 SYM HD200 has that. It actually isn't a light. Just some material that is painted red and green. The red one shows up every so many miles/kilometers. Then you poke the end of your key into the slot directly below it, and it resets it. Our 2008 is running great and gets ridden often. I've extended my oil change intervals, because it's never cold here. Cold starts and winter starts, I believe, are when most engine wear happens. I used to change at 1000 miles, but, I'm going 1500 now. I also went from 3000 to 5000 on my car.

Alleyoop You push and hold the 'M' button that is below the odometer. Then you're good for another 1000 miles. (Note to self: read the manual cover to cover even the real small stuff, don't skip anything)
