Got the new head and gasket from Scrappy today. While I was there, I had them pull out a BBK jug to check, standard jugs do fit the BN157QMJ-3, 54mm stud spacing, the head is non-standard, it's taller. This means I should be able to use one of the drop in NCY 61mm BBKs!
Got her back together, took a test ride, all is good, back to smilin and ridin!

How long do you think before they get discolored or the tags wear off? They could get discolored quick, depending on air flow around them and road conditions where you ride. A dab of silicon on top of the color might make it last.

I agree, a bit of masking tape wrapped around the ends of the cut wires and colored with markers is probably cheaper than a bunch of different spools of colored wires.
When I was 17, I messed up the installation of my first car stereo. I had wrapped all the ground cables together, and it was working fine. I listened to it as I was screwing the dashboard back in. All of a sudden, smoke started pouring out of the vents. I panicked screaming for my Dad who calmly walked out and removed the battery ground cable. I took the dashboard back off, and found I had forgotten to attach those wrapped together ground cables to an actual ground. I had melted the entire main wiring harness (old Subaru). My Dad told me I could spend $120 on a new wiring harness, or $20 on new wire and rebuild it myself. I was a broke teenager, so I learned the hard way by rebuilding the wiring harness, and I used masking tape with markers to color code everything.

Sounds like you may have a restriction in your air intake. 1/2 turn means the pilot jet is too rich for the amount of air coming in.

The accelerator pump is a curved piece of metal that presses a plunger which pumps a small squirt of fuel into the carb when you first twist the throttle. This helps to compensate for the extra air coming in when the butterfly first opens, which causes a temporary drop in suction. It is adjustable by bending the curve of the spring to give the squirt sooner, or straightening the curve out a bit to give the squirt later. If you are bogging at take-off, adjustments to the accelerator pump may help.
The decel-enrichener system is a small device mounted to the side of the carb, containing a small diaphragm and spring. It adds an additional measure of fuel during the very high intake vacuum that exists during closed-throttle deceleration at road speeds. It’s sole function is to help reduce exhaust backfiring during deceleration by preventing a lean condition from occurring.

Sounds lean to me. If you have already turned a/f out 3 or more turns, then it's either got a plugged spot (I know, cleaned and cleaned, but sitting allows our ethanol gas to gel in spots you sometime swear are clear), or you need to upjet the idle jet.
A plugged or restricted spot could be anywhere along the fuel system, the hoses, the filter, the petcock, the float bowl, and all of the jets and ports.

Could be lain, however I had zero issues before the plug blew out. I ride to work at 60-65mph for about 5 miles on my daily commute, and have never had any issues with performance (no surging, idle's fine, no backfiring, no bogging). I can post more pics of the head showing the rough casting, but now that I think of it, the casting has nothing to do with the plug threads, they are threaded by a tap after casting. I'm going to have to assume I did not torque the plug properly last time I checked it, and it slowly worked it's way loose over the months until it finally blew out. Now it will not even grab the threads. I could go the tap+insert route, but for $20 more I think a new head is a better solution, especially since I live less than 15 miles from Scrappy's and don't have to wait for a head to be shipped.

After 7500 miles, I finally had my first breakdown on my SSR Pacifica 150cc BN157QMJ-3. Blew the spark plug hole out. I just tore it down, and will be replacing the head with a new one from Scrappy's tomorrow (they are closed today for Memorial Day). Upon removing the head and inspecting it, I found it was a horrible casting job, lots of rough edges and a couple of voids, so I'm not surprised the plug blew out (no indication of cross threading, and I hadn't removed the plug in months). $40+ for a helicoil kit + tap vs $60 for a new head, no brainer to replace rather than repair. Another thing I noticed was the valves are very differently colored now, and I don't know if that's an indication of other issues, ( pistonguy what do you think?): i1232.photobucket.com/albums/ff362/JerryScript/Scooter/20160530_120446_zpsmbm4o19v.jpgI know I've been running rich, but that's on purpose since I do ride on the freeway for my work commute, and didn't want a lean condition causing damage.

The two pumps are different. One prevents stumbling when releasing the throttle, the other prevents bogging when first turning the throttle.

That depends upon your weight plus the weight of the scooter. The only real way to know is to try them both and see what works best for you. Tuning a CVT is a trial and error situation.

Wow, what a deal. I just had one of those pull up beside me today on the way to work. Looked great and sounded sweet. Hope you enjoy many rides on it!

Yamaha has a new website and apps for both iPhone and Android that allow you to fully customize the 'Max line of scooters to your specifications, see the way it looks instantly from all angles, and get an idea of a price. This is the future of vehicle shopping, at least I hope so! www.phmotorcycles.co.uk/the-buzz/off-the-press/my-garage-app-yamaha/

I personally would recommend using that original motor mount, your current mount will not give a smooth ride I'm thinking.
