I had big, fast streetbikes when I was in my 20's and into my mid 30's. Sold my last bike in 2001. Always meant to get another bike but after really thinking about what kind of riding I want to do and what roads I planned on riding on, a 150cc scooter is the perfect machine for me. With my scooter and my GPS, I can finally explore all the little secondary roads here in beautiful south central Pennsylvania.

I did the first "break in" oil change, gear oil changed to synthetic. Had to re-secure the VIN# cover plate. Went for a ride.

Thanks everyone, I have oil for the first few changes and a 60 ml syringe for putting in the gear oil. Can't wait to ride some more. I've got to wait till it cools off a little here, it's out with a heat index of 102. I'll go for an evening ride later. The Kymco is really nice, the light easy handling and excellent brakes give me confidence on the twisty back roads I've ridden. After 12 years without a bike I'm glad I went with a scooter.

I did like the Morphous, but I don't think I could live with that radical look long term. I really like the Super 8 looks. I can't believe how nice and light it handles. Yet it still feels stable. I will reserve judgment on the power until it's broken in. But it's got enough for now. Attachments:

Thanks to all who threw in their 2 cents on the "Seeking advice" thread. I put about 50 miles on today. I'm so glad I went with this scooter. Attachments:

Oh I'm jumping, had this week off and don't have to go back to work until the 24th. I want to get some riding in before then.

There is a Genuine dealer not too far from me, they have the Blur but at $4000 it's out of my price range. I don't want to finance anything. I still like the Morphous, but the style is just too radical for me and it's so low slung that I don't think people in cars will see me until I'm imbedded in their grill. I can buy the Super 8 tomorrow for $2350, thats with all tax, tag and dealer fees included. It's the last 2012 leftover they have.

Well folks here is the latest...
The Scarabeo was a bust. I thought the price was too good to be true ($2400) and it was. The poor bike had been stolen and recovered. The entire ignition switch had been ripped out of it, there wasn't one plastic panel without cracks, scrapes, or parts broken off. There was no key for the seat and they had a toggle switch rigged up for the ignition. I walked away fast.
While I was in that area I thought I would check out the large bike dealer near there. Honda-Suzuki-Yamaha all under one roof. Burgman, Majesty, Silverwing, these scooters are HUGE, with prices to match.
I'm going to the Kymco dealer tomorrow, checkbook in hand.
Thanks to all for the support.

The Aprilia is actually at a used car dealer, it seems they have a small selection of bikes as well. I checked on prices for Scarabeo 500's and this one seems too good to be true. I will find out tomorrow.
Thanks to all.

Thank you everyone for your input.
I just got back from the Yamaha dealer and they would hardly move at all on the price of the Morphous. That being said, I have researched the prices on these and they are not out of line with what they are asking.
I gotta say, sitting on the Morphous is like sitting on a huge wave-runner or snowmobile or something, the weight is really low and easy to control. The Kymco dealer has lots of Super 8 150's, there is only one Morphous for sale around here.
Tomorrow I may go look at a 2008 Aprilla Scarabeo 500. The Aprilla is a little less money than the Morphous and a bit more than the Super 8.

WOW!! Thanks everybody for all the replies. I wish I could test ride both machines but I don't think the Kymco dealer allows it. The Yamaha is at a different dealership, I don't know their test ride policy. I am going to throw out low-ball offers and see if I get any bites. Was hoping to go today, but my wife and I are going to look at a Halflinger mare for her this afternoon. If she gets the horse, I get the scooter.
Thanks again all.

Thanks for the reply jerseyboy. I do like the 2 year warranty on the Kymco. I also like the fuel injection and liquid cooled 250cc engine on the Yamaha.

I'm new to this forum and don't have a scooter yet. I got my motorcycle license in 1988 and rode street bikes until 2002. I always thought I would get another bike but until now I just never got around to it. Anyway... I really want a scooter instead of a motorcycle and I have it narrowed down to two choices. I can get a brand new 2012 KYMCO Super 8 150 or a 2006 Yamaha Morphus with 4000 miles and a few scratches. They are within a few hundred dollars of each other in price and I like the looks and fit of both. I don't plan on any highway riding nor do I plan on making any modifications, just normal maintenance. I've never had a scooter before and I'm not sure what to expect. I look forward to putting around on all the nice country roads around here. I really like this forum and thanks in advance for your input.
