the starter bendix located at top right hand side of the variator is not moving out, they can be sticky in very cold weather, getting a better quality aftermarket one will take care of the issue in most cases, even in a weak voltage condition as long as the starter motor turns at all the gear will move out.

I thought from the start that this sounds like a sticky Bendix. and from your response maybe I'm right.you say the Bendix is located in the upper right side of variator? Will I need a gasket?are yu talking about removing the belt cover assy.to get access to Bendix.you can see Ive not worked on many scooters and don't have manual yet because I'm not sure exactly how to get to Bendix.the starter spins plenty of gusto because when it does try to engage I can tell by the sound it makes that the cranking amps.seem very strong.i think if I dont get this taken care of quickly that I'm going to damage the flywheel.thats how strong the whipping of the starter sounds!this assy.makes me think of the starter design of the 60 degree vee 150 horse evinrudes.i used to work on.they had a starter motor that ran a geared assy.tgat actually turned flywheel

Sorry to waste your time with a stupid question! It's kinda obvious where the starter and Bendix are located.it seems like as long as I have the tools and am not doing an overhaul on the lower end that these scooters are pretty simple if a man is mechanically inclined.although I sure am glad to be able to come to you any questions..thanks again!!

i'm happy to help. there is a gasket on the CVT cover but if you are careful you should be able to save it. you don't have to remove the kickstart for 50cc, it stays with the cover when you remove it. the bendix will lift right off easily, you should be able to turn it by hand and see that it moves outward.
