I'm in FL, not NV... Did you ever have a title - as in it is lost? If you never had one, do you at least have a VIN? You should - even my son's electric bicycle had one... If you have a VIN, you should be registerable...

Indeed I have a VIN Number...... Cheap China scoot purchased Years ago on craigs list.. No paperwork at all... Way to be #1 though.....
Thank you for your opinion on Florida law. I'll take it with a grain of salt as Nevada rules may differ......
See original Post... Link coming soon

My Apology......
Looks like this is no longer the place for information about scooters.
Moving on to a place I can trust again. Good Luck!!!!!!!

Unclear what information you are seeking? The 50cc scooter registration requirement has been very well reported by most Nevada TV stations and newspapers . . example.

Thank you good sir... May I ask how this translates into an answer of how registration is possible without a title? Is the DMV going to issue new titles? I have NO problem with being registered and insured... Except, How Even the DMV rep... said she had no idea on how this issue will be resolved. Remember, there are a few thousand sooters in Las Vegas bought without paperwork. Drop shiped/ Craigslist/Ebay etc....sold without proper identification. I am glad this is being fixed so, if stolen, some sort of identification may help..... Just concerned about how some folks are gonna get a valid ride to work..... The DMV basicly said I am SOL even with a Motorcyle Endosement.

Might research the minutes of past hearings to see if the issue was discussed. Even if the DMV did offer some variation of a "provisional registration", based on clean (not stolen) VIN, if the scooter was ever impounded in the future . . no certificate-of-origin or title may still be a documentation issue that would prevent repossession. Should be interesting to see how this issue is resolved.

1) contacting the DMV would be my first thing to do. Which I'll grant it sounds like you did try. But if that one had no answer, I'd ask for her boss, or for the number of someone who might have more info. I wouldn't be hoping someone online just happens to also live in my state and just happens to also know the particulars of a new law. And I would bring up the issue you mentioned to EVERYONE I talk to at the DMV, that there's LOTS of scoots/mopeds with no title but are legal, and what's going to be done to accommodate these owners? And I'd find out who started the bill creating the new law, and call his office with this same concern. Shouldn't be too hard for them to add an amendment providing for untitled scooters with clean VINs.
2) chill on the attitude, please. You came here and posted your question and expected an answer in FOUR MINUTES? I don't know of any forum that's THAT active. Not even the Ammy forum at its height was that active at any given minute. Sorry, but some of us have jobs and real-world lives and can't just sit here monitoring forums like we'd prefer.
And then you get snippy with 'gull when he does reply, and says upfront he's not in NV, then offers advice on his FL experience.

If the bike was lawful then a title company may be able to assist you in getting a title. With the new law taking effect shortly there should be a number of title type companies who would be able to advise you locally.
Usually the original owner of record will be the one who would have had the easier and cheaper options for getting a title for you before the sale was completed. Do not be surprised though if the VIN when they do a search comes up with a lean on it or stolen. This is an unfortunate possibility that one does face in these situations.
Personally I grew up where if the seller had no proof of ownership of some kind on any type of vehicle regardless of whether it needed to be registered or not then it was no sale. Boat, tractor, bike, off road vehicle it did not matter. On a private sale if the seller won't let me take a cell phone picture of their drivers license as proof that I bought the vehicle from the owner of record then its no sale too.
What class bike are we talking about?

Tractors have titles? Really? I wonder if Mom's John Deere lawn mower also had one. Or at least the neighbour's--he had some monster-sized JD mower, too wide to fit through our chain link's gate. Had five gears but you never went past second. He'd drive it up the street to our house and drink a beer/shoot the breeze with Dad. >'Kat
