Lmao at the DUI on a horse...my Uncle got one too I've never even heard of that until my Aunt had to go bail him out. I don't drink..but we have MANY town drunks that ride scoots because they lost their driving privilege. Riding a scoot is illegal for them as well...but they think they have less chance of getting caught. In fact in Michigan if you get a DUI...you cannot ride a motorized bicycle...go-ped or lawn tractor even! Also one area of town is a well known drug zone.....they started riding scooters to deliver them cause it looks less suspicious than a 19 yo driving an Escalade or Lexxus. Soooo...we good citizens get stopped and harassed all the time due to suspicion. I understand the Police are just doing their job...but no need to treat EVERY scooter rider like dirt...pat them down and check inside our scoots. It has made me late for several Medical and other appointments...so now I leave 15 minutes earlier just in case. I don't mind being stopped...I just despise the rudeness in which they do so... i.e. "How much have you had to drink?"...nothing officer "Why are you lying to me?" I'm not..let me blow into the tube. Or....."Why was your license suspended?.. It wasn't officer..I have not even had a ticket in 21 years. "Well..stand over their..face the woods..hands at your side and DO NOT even move an inch...I am calling this in and when it comes back you and I are going for nice ride" <--already assuming I am guilty! We get harassed by township...county and state boys non stop. They also claim aside from DUI and drugs...the reason they stop us is because ANYBODY over the age of 18 riding a scooter is their probable cause...as folks 18 and over drive cars not scooters. Talk about labeling....good gawd my mother is 74 yo and she rides a cute lil pink Retro scoot I bought her...she barely drives her car during nice weather as she is on a fixed income...gas is costly..and she just loves to ride. And yes..she gets stopped too! Pisses me off how a few losers can cause the rest of us so many problems. As I said I don't really mind being stopped as I know everything is ok...BUT I REALLY HATE being treated like when they do...they are rude and treat you like a Felon...and when your license comes back ok...and no warrants for you..they LOOK for something...such as check your hi/lo beams...tail light...brake light..horn...turn signals..all that stuff...

Dang I just don't have the drunk-flexes to balance up on anything 2-wheeled like that. I'll still be within the legal limit and not feel up to par to get on the bike. It's just not worth it even if you can get away without physical or legal damage most the time. Not saying a cage is a different story but I mean c'mon, the thing drives itself...

Walter it should not surprise you that people here drink and drive anything. I dont think i know 1 person (going out on a limb here) that is not an alcoholic here. Beer is so cheap and unless you are in Mayaguez, Ponce or San Juan cops dont really care. All you have to do is avoid the flashing lights at night and your ok. If they had a warrant system in place here it would be soooo different. Dean yup so true! I see very single day in my town people drinking while driving with a can of COORS LIGHT in there hand while driving. and yet i get pulled over for wearing shorts on my scooter. BTW DEAN I sent you a message on facebook about a property in alaska!

Can't recommend riding drunk... or stoned... or while texting. YES, I've seen yuppies riding expensive Euro-scooters no-hands, while feverishly TEXTING their little fingers off... Watched one cruise right through a redlight doing that, while the greenlight cross-traffic somehow managed to miss her! If they're going to ride drunk, they'll soon be needing more than replacement scooter body parts. Leo (old, but sober in Texas)

I guess I have been very lucky because the only time I have ever been stoped on my scooter or motorcycle was in a road block and the were stoping everybody.

I had a cousin that was a habitual offender, lost his license, then got arrested for DUI on a tractor...on the way to the local store to get another six pack of beer! Some people never learn...and are so addicted to alcohol, that nothing will get their attention. Well, almost nothing. He developed stomach cancer and then had no choice but to stop drinking, but died a very miserable death. Drinking and driving just don't mix...especially on two wheels!

I have taken care of patients that died from it....liver shut down and they spent a miserable and painful week dying from it. He got one on a tractor huh? Same happens here...in fact in Michigan you can get a DUI on your Snowmobile...Jet Ski....Sail Boat...John Boat with a lil 3hp or so engine on it...Yacht....Lawn Tractor..Motorized Bicycle..Golf Cart if on the roadway and many others. My problem with DUI is...Ok..so you don't care about...your choice...but what about other innocent folks?
