The one thing that still bothers me is " why did the scoot die in the first place ?" Weak or dead battery ? No , especially since its an ad cdi . bad spark ? Possibly . loose or bad coil/plug boot , possibly. Clogged air filter , possibly . bad carb diaphragm , possibly . another issue is why did the scoot not fire when u bypassed the carb and squirted fuel into the manifold ? Clogged air filter ? Possibly. Or bad spark, possibly . all reasons why the scoot would shut down while riding it. Hmm ok so I think after the failed jump I can rule out the battery I tried a back up cdi, no change Carb diaphragm looked fine when i cleaned it Also tried starting with air filter off just to rule that out. I have tried 2 different spark plugs (both were used) so I will pick up a new one just to rule that out I suppose it could be a bad coil, but I don't have a spare, how do I check it without swapping it out. And yes I did get a spark, but like you said it may be weak, and having never checked it before I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for.

No change with the new plug Checked out the coil it seems to be all together tight, but how can i actually check it

i'm new to the thread, so what problems are you having? did you buy the scoot new from the factory or dealer or did you get it second hand. correct me if i'm wrong but you can't get the scoot started, right? a few questions: 1. does the engine have compression? 2. do you have the tools and knowledge to work on your ride? in regards to (2) above, if i told you to isolate the stator, could you do it?

Here's the summary Bought it a year and a hald ago new. I ride it 3x a week. Died while I was riding it one day I've tried changing the cdi Changing the spark plug, made sure boot was tight Tried jumping with a car Cleaned carb thoroughly Checked for spark by putting the plug by the valve cover and trying to start, saw a spark Ive adjusted the valves Couldn't get a compression reading but it may have been bc the battery was low at the time,I'll try it again tonight Ive tried putting gas in the vac line and starting I can turn the variator by hand

check for compression. remove plug and disconnect the coil from the CDI. hold thumb over plug hole and crank engine. you should feel the pressure as the engine comes up on the compression stroke. make sure to disconnect the coil or you might get tangled with it and get shocked. if you can't get compression then you have a bent valve stem, valves need replaced. other possibilities, although unlikely are broken connecting rod or broken crank, if you get compression then reassemble plug, coil, and CDI and check for correct timing. this not only means aligning the timing marks, but also means to make sure the the pulse pickup and rotor are installed properly. it's unlikely these components are installed incorrectly on a new scoot. if this scoot was purchased second hand then you must assume every possibility. if the compression and timing check out then proceed with the following: remove fuel line from carb and plug it. remove carb from intake. pour some gas into a spray bottle, and give a squirt into intake while cranking.
i advise making sure of your electrical components, especially the CDI, coil, and plug. a CDI will just flat out fail, it doesn't go "half bad". coils on the other hand can have shorted turns, which will give a spark, but not enough under compression. plugs can be improperly gaped and be of poor construction. an iridium plug properly gaped will outlast your scoot, but they are pricey, i paid 12 bucks for mine.
if your ride still fails to start, and you have thoroughly checked the above, then you might have a grounded stator or some other ground that prevents the scoot from starting. mine had a similar problem. the starter would spin the engine over pretty good, and it acted like it wanted to start but it wouldn't.

I'm getting 30 psi compression when i try to start it but it still won't start

Feeding fuel through vac line does not work either

It needs to come apart,,,30 psi is not enough to lite up ,,,,,

I'm getting 30 psi compression when i try to start it but it still won't start what about the timing? have MADE SURE it's timed correctly? if the rotor and pulse pickup are misaligned, this scoot will fail to start. like i said, this would be unlikely on a new scoot, and it's the reason i asked if you got the bike second handed. also, the fuel must be atomized, letting it pour in through a vacuum line can easily flood the plug. i don't know what engine you have, so i don't know if 30psi is within specs. i guess i should have asked, so i'm doing it now, what size engine do you have?

It's all in the first post It's a 150cc 157QMJ about 9500km Is it likely the timing went off in the middle of riding it though? I had ridden it all week then all of a sudden 10 minutes into a ride WOT it just slowed down, turned off, never turned back on

I'd def double check timing and valve lash.

When it comes down to it , it may end up now needing a top end rebuild but its still not clear yet.

I'd def double check timing and valve lash. Relashing the valves was the first thing i tried, I've done it a few times so i know i did it right As for timing i will check it tonight but is it probable that it came out of timing mid ride? I dont know much about the timing or how it would malfunction
