This is why everything was not adding up . I didn't want him to replace the top end if he didn't have to. Its usually something simple that's why I mentioned a possible weak battery . I had this issue many times over the years. These batteries tend to die pretty easy . I'd still buy a new plug , but it may just fire up without it. I'm just not sure why the scoot shut down while it was running?

Is your scoot ac or DC ?

It is ac Is there a guide to checking the battery and the stator with a meter? Not exactly sure how to, I'm going to try to jump it in a few hours

It is ac Is there a guide to checking the battery and the stator with a meter? Not exactly sure how to, I'm going to try to jump it in a few hours I'm not sure how much you know about scoots , but some have an ac powered cdi and some have a DC powered cdi. This makes a big difference when troubleshooting this kind of problem . I've been concerned When it comes to why the scoot died while running. If the scoot has an ac powered cdi the scoot will run without a battery , but if the cdinis DC powered the scoot will die I the battery craps out . so why did the scoot die while you were riding ? That's the main question that needs answered. I'd like to see a pic of the spark plug if you can post one . We do know the battery I'd very weak and its def an issue . the scoot will never start with a battery that weak . I'm really anxious to hear how the scoot reacted to jumping it !! Hopefully it will start!

tvnacman should be able to help you with the voltage from the battery and stator .

The battery should be reading at least 13.5v while running. Ive had the stator pickup coil come loose, and start hitting the magnet on the flywheel. It made a noise, kind of a whining, and would sputter. The thing that doesn't add up to me is the white smoke.

I'd jump it, then check for volts at the battery when running. I bet it's not charging which would explain why it just died. He ran out of juice man!!!!
Voltage regulator or Stator.
White smoke could of been the voltage reg going belly up, or it could of been fuel vapor, or any number of things. I wouldn't worry about it until it's running.

Good call, GEH. I did not even consider it being a DC scoot.

Good call, GEH. I did not even consider it being a DC scoot. It's def an ac scoot Tried jumping, still no start, doesn't even sound like it's going to start, just makes that same noise and gives the variator a little spin Im really lost as to what I should do

I wonder if it's a weak starter or poor wires.
Did it turn over faster?

I even had the starter clutch cause the same issue on mine. I had a good battery and even tried jumping it , but the same thing happened. Could be why th scoot shut down also, the starter clutch " mine " was in pieces and sorta jammed up.

I wonder if it's a weak starter or poor wires. Did it turn over faster? John Yes alot faster, the battery was definitely low but it still doesn't seem to be the root of the problem

John Yes alot faster, the battery was definitely low but it still doesn't seem to be the root of the problem Can u check.the spark again and see if it seems like a nice strong spark ? A weak spark may also give u the same symptoms. If you can just replace the plug I would def do it. They are only a couple bucks . may not be the issue but at least it would rule it out 100%

The one thing that still bothers me is " why did the scoot die in the first place ?" Weak or dead battery ? No , especially since its an ad cdi . bad spark ? Possibly . loose or bad coil/plug boot , possibly. Clogged air filter , possibly . bad carb diaphragm , possibly . another issue is why did the scoot not fire when u bypassed the carb and squirted fuel into the manifold ? Clogged air filter ? Possibly. Or bad spark, possibly . all reasons why the scoot would shut down while riding it.
