ive reused my triangles (the part that sits in the cover which covers the rollers over the housing)
I didnt see any wear on them except some black dust on the inside.
I live intl and they sell for the same as the rollers so I thought not to replace them. just wipe them down and reuse.
my other question is wear on the belt. just wondering how to assess a good or worn out variator belt. besides being dirty it looks as good as a new one.
rollers always have flat sides which I replace. just wondering how you can tell the condition of a good or bad belt. thank you is all this code at the bottom. ive edited iot and tried to erase and it comes back.

You need to measure the width of the belt and check it against the spec of a new one

triangles? as far as i know, there are 3 replacable parts in the variator: 1. ramp plate, a big chunk of metal. 2. rollers or sliders, usually 6 or 8 of them. 3, ramp plate guides, usually 3.
the ramp plate doesn't get replaced unless you get a complete variator assembly, or you upgrade to performance parts.
the rollers or sliders get replaced when damaged, to idiot proof the replacement replace all of them at once with identical parts.
the guides get replaced when worn or broken.
replace the entire variator when the roller pocket retaining walls are damaged.
the belt gets replaced when it starts to show signs of fraying, or cracking, or goes below minimum specs on width.
be sure to grease the crank spindle and the variator journal before reinstalling variator on the engine. also be absolutely certain that you keep all grease off the belt and variator faces, this includes handling with greasy fingers. if in doubt about this, then install variator, then sponge all drive surfaces with a good degreaser. i heard acetone works for this, but i used 70% isopropyl alcohol.

To degrease a belt... plane old dish soap and hot water The entire variator should be replaced every other belt Its $15 same as The belt The steel boss, bronze bushing, aluminum pulley faces, aluminum slide ramps, plastic slide bushings, aluminum slide bosses and steel cam plate all are exposed to carbon dust and aluminum oxide. This is an abrasive and polishes grooves flat spots and slop. The steel parts can be reused but you get new ones with the new variator. So you might as well have fresh parts.
