over $10,000 i'm sure,,,i just don't know what they're after,,,i can get a ktm duke 690 for less than that and it would leave the wonderkind beemer for dead after 3rd gear,,,oh well i guess im a dinosaur,,,scooters to me are low deck floorboard small mill (250 and under) good mileage and no real top speed (under 80 mph),,,to me the new "maxi" lineups are nothing more than low framed motorcycles with an automatic trans,,and also it's getting to the point where you can buy a gently used bike for very low money ,,,4 grand in for the build and have a stonking good bike (ie mid 80's bmw r80 used $2-3000 with very low miles,,$2000 for a balance/blueprint job and trans rework,,,another $2000 inthe chassis ,,$500 for paint,,,$7500 all in and it would be a monster,,,) crazy talk for what they want for the new stuff,,,,i know i'm gettin old but not senile yet anyways,,i built that ducati s4 monster in my avatar,,,got it as a very light lay down with 4000 miles on the clock,,,2 months later a few ebay buys later $2000 for the bike $300 for the tags that were expired,,,$2200 in parts,,,BAM,,,that beemer wouldnt have a chance,,,the duc would kill that thing dead,,,dead dead,,,,for like no money,,,,,i'll shut up now

I know the BMW scoots are pricey, but have you priced a big Bergman lately? Maxi scoots can't compete in price with a lot of motorcycles of the same displacement. Personal preference. I hope we hear more about BMW's mid size scoot soon. It is rumored to have a 350cc engine or so. Hopefully, it will cost less than half as much as their maxi scooters.

So Umm, Who wants to give me a Loan...... I promise there will be no work done under warranty and reverse engineering will be provided Neat bikes but, most likely only a handful will be sold for testing..... BMW has a history of creating 2 wheeled products they never sell-- much like the frameless models in developement a few years back.... Just a stepping stone for Motorcycle innovation.....

I agree with Kat, those scoots are HUGE, the price will be the same I bet. I see at scooters as affordable and convenient means of transportation, a huge and pricey scooter takes both things I like away from it.

BMW needs to follow the "KISS" rule when it comes to scoots. "Keep It SMALL Stoopid!

They will be very comfortable alternatives to motorcycles for touring and do well at the track due to the good use of ABS and Traction Control providing serious competition to motorcycles of larger displacement without ABS or Traction Control.
Better in extremes of hot or cold weather too than most motorcycles.
The Ducati for example can be bears to tolerate here in Florida when the temps are over 110 degrees on the roadways and don't think that mesh gear will help you as the heat blast from the engines can literally sear you through mesh gear.

Well, I like both scooters and BMW's......but not rolled up into one package. There is no way I would spend 10 to12 grand for a scooter....I have less than that invested in all three of the machines, pictured in my signature. All three are running great, and totally dependable. BMW makes some fine two wheelers, and all of them will go at least 100,000 miles, if taken care of....I have seen a couple with 200,000 on the clock......but you don't need to spend anywhere near $10k to own, ride, and enjoy one.
