Engine hanger was broken almost all the way through !!!!!!!!! Crappy ChinaWelds! Bought a new hanger - but of course it was the wrong size. So, took the old one to my welder and he welded it up to last beyond Armageddon.

Wow thats nasty!! coulda got hurt. Yeah, only about 1/2 inch of weld remaining! Could have gotten hurt, like those who run into deer at night. Worse still, could have messed up Matrin's SuperEngine!

I had some of my best times on the old mcculloch powered karts(1978),,man just the sound of them was evil.We had to use a steel cable on one of them to start it,,the rope kept breaking from so much compression..half the job was getting it started,,once it was running you ran it out of castor fuel

i dont want to create more work or be a wet blanket on the party,,,,BUT i would take this as a sign and (as long as it's still apart) check all welds and attachment points in and around the area to make sure there are no more failures either starting or already there waiting,,,paint flaking next to welds means movement or flexing ,,,go over it with a fine toothed comb,,,that would be top priority for me,,,

Super huge thanks to GEH for donating his NCY clutch pulley, NCY 1,500 contra spring, and NCY clutch bell. With a 4th gen NCY clutch pad assembly, SuperEngine now has an all-NCY clutch. Here are a couple of photos of the parts GEH donated, all cleaned up and ready to insyall: ... and the GEH clutch bell and contra spring: And here are all the parts coming together George (GEH) malso sent his K&S variator to try out (he liked it far more than the several Koso variators he previously had). I've been using a very expensive Dr. Pulley variator (twice the cost of any others), but have never been all that happy with the results. So, off with the Dr. pepper and on with the K&S. Here are GEH's parts, all cleaned up and ready to install: And here, with some new 12 gr Dr Pepper sliders: It's all installed now. Here is the result:

Hey Everybody, RCQ provided me a link to this thread so I thought I would just stop in and say hi to everyone and say what an awesome thread this is....I've been very busy with work and haven't had much time to visit other forums and don't know how soon I'll check back in, but if anyone has any questions, you can find a link to my forum by clicking on the friends list here at it'stheride... Or, you can send me a personal message on this forum, I will get a notification in my email.
In case you haven't realized by my handle, I am Dan Martin, owner of Martin Mopeds LLC, the person who assembled RCQ's engine. This engine was a fun build.... I build a lot GY6's, but Taida's are always the coolest.
