When I try to start the scooter up with the start switch I hear a click and then nothing every once in a while I I will hear it spin in the case I can kickstart it every time so I'm wondering if it's the bendix

Sounds like a weak battery. Have you tried charging your battery?

It should, unless your battery is going dead.
And what was the last work you had done on it? I had a similar problem, turned out I forgot to reconnect the ground wire that connects to the valve cover.

Do you have a multimeter? If you do, what is the reading with the scooter off?

Riding "should" charge the battery, That being said... If the battery has a Dead or Weak cell, it may never start correctly. Simple test without a multimeter----- Take it to a local auto parts store and have the battery tested for free !!!! ( They may suggest a new battery but NOT offer the best price ) BTW, Your female friend is not responsible for sucking the life out of a scooter JMHO GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!
