I want to get a scoot, 50cc is the limit here in Michigan for cheap riding. But I want something I can hmmmm tweak a bit with a bore kit to take it up to 45MPH or so. I see Bintelli uses a BN139QMB. Is this a plain generic engine that any normal kit will work on? I'm not sure what Lance uses. Bintelli and Lance are the only two models sold by my local decent dealer. www.grandrapidsscooter.us I'm not sure I want to order onlilne unless I can get support for it locally. Well, parts yes, entire bike no. Can you point me in the right direction? I've been reading a LOT, but only enough to get confused. I'm old, and have a lot of tools, but I don't know much about engines. - Joe

Parts for the online scooters are a dime a dozen. If you just need parts support and do your own work just order the parts online. The Chinese scooters use the old Honda GY6 motors. Do a search on ebay or just Google and see how many parts are available for those applications. I love my Chinese GY6 based scooter. Mine is a 150cc and I would recommend stepping up into the 150cc. It will keep up with traffic easily and be comfortable up to 45mph. The GY6 is a supper easy motor to work on. Usually if you need to do something to it just go to youtube and search for a video to walk you right through the process. Good luck. I have reviews of the sites I ordered from here itistheride.boards.net/thread/6552/greenearthscooters-com-powersportsbestAnd a review of the scooter here chinariders.net/showthread.php?t=13969

The bn139qmb will take most stock parts, and performance parts for a standard 139qmb. The one difference is the head, the bn uses different sized valves and rocker arms. You can switch to a standard or performance head (I have) but you have to change rocker arms when you do.
Bintelli stands out with their superior warranty and dealer network. Both Lance and Bintelli rebrand the highest quality Chinese manufacturers, and have active oversight agents in China helping to ensure higher QC.

Not to mention that Lance is now a SYM product, and even though Bintelli is made by Znen, it's still a nicer set up scoot with dealer backing

I also found a Genuine dealer near me. www.caferacerypsi.com/scooters So do any of the Lance or Genuine use a normal 139qmb engine? I'd like to buy a decent one. Then again I'm sooo tempted to get a cheap Taotao for half the price and soup it up. Thanks for the ideas guys. This is almost funny. Well most of the reason ppl like the moreexpensive model is the taiwanese parts and good warranty...but modifying will void the warranty, and if youre replacing stuff like the cylinder, variator, cdi etc.. with premium parts there wouldnt be too much of a point in getting a pricier one thats gona be torn apart anyways. A cheaper bike will leave you more cash for mods. Id only pay more for a "higher end" one if I was gona keep it mostly stock. Out of the china bikes there isnt too much difference really...taiwanese ones are nice but pricey

Lance on the other hand is a bit different animal, though how different i couldn't tell you. They're bikes are now re-branded Sym, i'm guessing the older style carburated ones while Sym brand is on the newer fuel injected stuff. As for Genuine, there's some nice bikes there, they're PGO made, and i'm not sure what the availability of parts is, but from what i understand, they do have a 2 stroke which will be faster than a 4T by a little bit out of the box. Speaking of 2T, check to see if your local Bintelli dealer is also carrying the Adly 2 strokes, as Bintelli is the importer of those.
