People on motorcycles (non scooters) that feel the urge to over take you no matter if you are doing the speed limit, is like if their reputation where damaged if a scooter is ahead of them You should have seen the guy driving the Bugatti Veteron go ballistic after I passed him on the interstate. He had to prove his million dollar ride was faster than a 250cc scooter. I think he was falling asleep and I woke him from his micro-nap since he was doing about 45 in a 75 mph zone and it was a little after 1:00 AM. I had dropped off a motor home on the east coast and was headed back to Tampa Bay and the Gulf of Mexico trying to beat a Tropical Storm.

They really hate it when a scooter launches better than their Sport Bike and then pulls ahead when they get flustered and miss a shift. Some take playing a bit of leap frog well and are a bit amazed how well the Sport City with some sliders performs. I can give many of them up to 700cc a good run at lawful speeds. Some who have modded the Sport City more aggressively have quite a sleeper that many have trouble keeping up with on a curvy road regardless of their displacement. Think ignition mods, cylinders and heads with bigger valves and over 12:1 compression, bigger fuel injectors, ECU updates, reservoir shocks, gold valves in the struts and fork braces.

... On the way back out of the lot, the gate ... does not sense my 125cc scooter.... Look at the pavement and see where the sensor wire is buried. Stop the Scoot mostly over the wire. If that doesn't work, talk to the site maintenance man and get him to adjust the sensor.

People on motorcycles (non scooters) that feel the urge to over take you no matter if you are doing the speed limit, is like if their reputation where damaged if a scooter is ahead of them Assuming your scooter is fast enough to truly keep up with traffic which is a different speed from the speed limit . . . A motorcycle rider with the geared transmission can hold a steady speed by listening to the motor but the scooter variator makes this impossible because the motor speed is steady but the ground speed isn't. As a result your speed isn't constant and the constant on and off the throttle for the motorcycle rider becomes annoying after a short while.

BTW: You are still on and off the throttle on the motorcyle since when you hear the motor speed change you are still adjusting the throttle one way or the other and then may have to clutch and downshift if the grade is steep enough.

When I'm on my dr in town it's dr in front,,, stop lite action is limited to the competition,,, the occasional Enzo or turbo porshe,,, or saleen is all that can be a challenge ,,,,on the Stella not so much,,,not for long anyways ,,, it goes under the knife soon so my biggest worry is keeping clutches in the thing,,,, as far as what the scooterista has to put up with,,, last Saturday going down the main drag in town and a solid cross street left hand turn right in front of me,,,both tires howling,, with me chiming in as well,,, way too close for my comfort at least and a shrug and that's what brakes are for look from the offender,,, I decided to carry on instead of going to jail for yet another assault charge ,,, this getting old crap is really getting on my nerves

I was on motorcycles for 48 years, and am on a twist-n-go for the past 30 months. ... can hold a steady speed by listening to the motor but the scooter variator makes this impossible because the motor speed is steady but the ground speed isn't. As a result your speed isn't constant and the constant on and off the throttle for the motorcycle rider becomes annoying after a short while. On a motorcycle the throttle is not "constant on and off" -- the throttle is a very minor adjustment of the throttle to keep the constant beat of the motor with the constant speed. With the Scoot you cannot hold the speed of the motor constant once you get up to cruising speed. With the Scoot you have to actually keep aware of your speeds. Going from motorcycle to scoot was interesting, but not annoying.

On a 50cc or 150cc scooter that may be the case just like on a 50cc or 150cc motorcycle which is what I experienced on my 150cc 8 hp Lance. Once you get past 20 hp its minor adjustments on the scooter too. The Aprilia 250 is between 23 and 25 hp depending on what your reading and it cruises quite stably. The 500cc bikes like the Aprilia Scarabeo or Piaggio BV 500 once cruising are more like a direct drive on minor throttle changes.
