Alright ive looked up alot of videos of doing the starter clutch. Its not going to be very hard, just going to take some time. I was just wondering if anyone has a special way to get the flywheel off(not wanting to have to buy the special puller)

As far as the flywheel, I have only seen them removed with a flywheel puller.

Or anything else other than the clutch? In order to change the starter clutch, you will need a flywheel puller... I addition, the starter clutch itself requires a special tool. Starter Clutch nut removal tool ... I have seen people make them out of sockets, but why go through all that work and waste an impact socket? I've also seen it removed with a big chisel/screw driver hammer set up... But risk of stripping is very high.... This is a reverse thread setup (removal is clockwise) You will also need new gaskets and I recommend copper gasket spray for sealing your crankcase back together... I recommend getting the right tools and gaskets for the job. Why do it, if you're not going to do it right? BTW, you don't have to keep the tools if you're worried about money... Just re-sell them when you're done using them...

They're out of different video series I made... One video shows how to remove the stator and the other will show ya what you're in for removing the starter clutch.. I did this about 4 months or so ago . It was pretty easy. I only have to remove the fan cover , two bolts holding the swing arm to the side cover of the engine , I had to remover the two bolts holding the muffler to the swing arm. I tied the muffler up so I didn't hang. I was able to pull the side cover off after removing the flywheel and stator , along with the side cover bolts. It was pretty straight forward. I didn't have a starter clutch socket, so I had to secure a socket and wrench on the variatior nut , then grab the starter clutch nut with vise grips and attach a small breaker bar to the vise grips to break the nut free. I did the same to tighten it. But it was not a hard job.

Yah i was wondering if that would work. Do you know what size the threads are?? The threads on the flywheel are the same as the threads on the engine case . U can use the same 5/16 bolts from even the cvt cover . You will want to use the flywheel nut to keep the puller from sliding off the shaft. Screw the flywheel nut onto the shaft threads so the stwheel puller shaft sets inside of the nut and against the flywheel shaft . This way the puller stays on the shaft.

This is the style I got for myself.... I can use it on both, the 50cc or 150cc... I've used it about 25 times, it's quite reliable!
