Hi dawgs, I'm looking for a gasket for the bowl on my carb, I broke the thing when I was messing with the jets and now it is leaking fuel. Where can I buy the gasket, or if possible, can it be made with some kind of silicon?
Cheers.

In my opinion, no, don't use anything and attempt to make a gasket for your carburetor.
What size carb is it? I have some extra for the PD24J (24mm carb)... I'll send ya one for free if ya need it.

Rubber cement it back together if not totally jacked up. Do this outside the carb and make sure to let it dry good and you should get enough life out of it to remain mobile until a replacement can come in. Do not use gasket maker, permatex, rtv or any other products on a carb bowl.

I don't have any extra 30mm's, but maybe another member will... One way or another, these gaskets aren't much money at all and I strongly advise buying a gasket instead of attempting to make one.

Can you take a pic of the problem ? If its just , not fitting because its twisted . you can usually get it to seal with a little patience . I once had one that was slightly stretched and would not fit correctly into one of the corners. I threw it in the freezer for a while so it would shrink, then quickly put the gasket in place. It was just enough to get it to work. I'd like to see a pic so we can maybe give you another option.

Sometimes you literally can't get a float bowl gasket, I encountered this once it was simply not available anywhere. in my case it was rubber with round cross section, was not really possible to make a gasket out of gasket material that I know of.
If you can't find anything Permatex form-a-gasket #1 is not RTV based and is the only thing I know of compatible with fuel that would be suitable for this repair. In my case I reused the old gasket and only used a very small amount around the broken part of it, being careful not to get it in the float bowl. It has to harden up for a while too, I think I let it set up a couple days before running it.

It is impossible to find the gasket locally, I'll try with the gasket material and see how it works until I can find a replacement gasket. Thanks all for the help.

I don't know of many places that sells just the gasket, but here's a seller offering a complete rebuild kit for a 30mm CVK carburetor. LINKYou may get gasket material in your jets, needle valve port, etc etc... You might screw up your carb if you attempt to make your own gasket. If your scoot is your only means of transportation and you have to do this out of necessity, then good luck... However, if you can wait, I once again STRONGLY advise getting the right gasket. Anyhow, good luck!!

If you need to make a gasket , what u should do is buy a sheet of gasket paper. The cork kind. Then you can trace and cut out a new gasket that will last .

Easiest way to make a gasket with cork is put the bowl on the cork sheet with something heavy on top for a few hours. Cut out the indentions left by the bowl, and voila you have a new gasket.
