A lot of people are not informed enough and just dump oil and gas in the sink or outside. BAD! I know a lot of people who do this. I personally put old oil and gas into old oil and cleaning spray containers then once I have enough I drop them off at a local plant.
What do you guys do?

I take all my oil and gear oil to the local auto parts store. Usually AutoZone just because they are the closest to my house. For gas as long as it is not contaminated with oil or anything, I pour into my cars gas tank lol. If it is contaminated I will just mix with the oil and turn in at the same time.

What I should do is fill water-balloons and lob at the vehicles at the Torrance Police parking lot. What I actually do is take all of my hazardous chemicals to Hazardous Waste Disposal Services, 1400 N Gaffey St, San Pedro, CA -- they "accept: paint and solvents; used motor oil and filters, anti-freeze, and other automotive fluids; cleaning products; pool and garden chemicals; aerosol cans; all medicine except controlled substances; auto batteries; household batteries. E-waste: computers, monitors, printers, network equipment, cables, telephones, televisions, microwaves, video games, cell phones, radios, stereos, VCRs, and electronic toys."

I don't have any, but I'd take it to the hazardous disposal site. I did it way back when I had leftover darkroom chemicals from my photog class. Mom wanted to just pour them out in the field across the street, just past the street's edge. I pointed out next rain and it runs off down to the creek. Or else someone's dog starts digging and licking.

In my area of the country, there are numerous, privately owned, auto repair shops, that have furnaces designed to run on used motor oil. Some, use these systems as a sole source of heat durning our long winters. They seem to appreciate it when I stop by with 10 or 12, gallon, or 5 quart jugs, in the back of the pickup.
