Since I cleaned up my belt , i went for a short test run with a 1000 main spring and 16 gram rollers . I hit 63 on a small incline that I usually hit 60 " on a good day". Sometimes I only hit 59 . my rpms where a little high so I replaced the 16's with 16.5 gram weights. It gonna be raining for the next day or so , so I'll have to wait to test her out again. I also might have a speedo issue. Yesterday , every roadside radar sign I passed said I was going 3mph faster then what my spedo said . it also felt as if I was going faster , but I'm not sure . I'll have to test the speedo out with GPS again. If my speedo is behind 3 mph then I really picked up some speed fro cleaning this belt , but I'm not sure about that.

I think 1k spring is the way to go. I have a 1500 RPM spring and I think I lost some speed as soon as I put it on.

I would only go with a heavier main spring if you are stuck not being able to hit near 7500 rpms , or if you are able to hit 7500 rpms with lighter weights but the belt won't climb fully on the variator because you have to use too light of weights to hit that rpm. The heavier main springs will allow for heavier weights with higher rpms. But you have to hope the heavier weights will help open the clutch pulley fully with the heavier main spring. Its has to be tuned perfect , especially with this K&S variator. I can't wait to see if I hit 70 on a straight run. I'll have to do another speed run video !

those road speedo signs are usually off and can be off quite a bit, you'd be suprised.

Yes they can be, but only by a few mph. The best test is done with markings on the road. Using video with a clock overlay you can calculate your speed very accurately between two points with a known distance. Get up to speed before hitting the first mark.

yeah thats what i thought.....at 67 mph and 7900rpm, the rod sheared from the piston, turned to a jack hammer and tried to cut the block in half, I am setting my new max speed at 62-3 mph, the brakes can barely get you to an expedite stop at those speeds, wanna go faster buy a bigger engine with bigger brakes,
edit breaks to brakes...damn,

AGREE! I also have a pukey classic scooter with a pukey nonexistent front suspension. Heading downhill yesterday I was somewhere around 65mph and thought I either would bounce off the road and loose it, or not make the mild bend in the road and lost it. Even the slightest disturbance at those speeds and the scooter disengages from reality. On a flat road, no headwind, even with the BBK and all the other changes I'm not looking at much above 60 due to the massive windshield (I suppose). The scoot can handle that speed. Not anything higher!

rcq have you seen the springer mod for the front of those classics, a friend of mine ce came up with it.... it was on the old forum...really keeps the front in contact with the road.

ok, those simply use a set of craptastic shocks, frankly they wear out fast and dont got a lot of umph behind them, the rear shock from the venice, milano... these little bastards and quit a few other rear shocks are with in a half inch to inch in length off those fronts, easy bolt on and it looks like a springer front end arrangement much like the classic vespas which used a coil spring type shock but the chrome cover usually wont fit back on over the fatter shock, so a yellow or chrome one is a good choice, I have a la vie with that front end that needs to have it done in the next couple of days, but they have enough power to keep the tire in contact with the road, and do max braking without bottoming out. I typically only put one of the rear springs in front, havent tried two, one works good, might give it a try.

I used GPS to verify my speedo , and it seems my speedo is ok. The sign was off by about 3mph . Funny thing was that both signs in passed were 3 mph off , but yesterday they were spot on . I'm def gonna have to make another video . I'm guessing I'm between 68-70 on a straight run now. I've had her at 80 mph down hill before , so I have no worries about the rod.
