Hi guys. I discovered my bike was stored with a disconnected fuel line, which meant the carb is empty and clean. However the fuel line was disconnected between the carb and the vacuum operated sending unit whatever it's called. I found the fuel filter in the under seat bucket. Each end of the fuel line has the little clamps so I am pretty sure that's where the fuel filter WAS. My question is shouldnt the fuel filter be placed in the line right after the fuel tank and not just before the carb? Could there be another one lurking under the plastic covering the tank? There is no issue with having two is there?
Thanks!
Vince

On all three of my scooters, the filter is between the tank and the petcock.

doubt you need two,,i've never run 2 even on my dirtbikes,,,there's a screen on the pickup tube on the petcock so i run one in line,,,anywhere in the line is fine,,,just make sure the fuel line is routed so it doesn't go uphill along the route

I have done both, had just one fuel filter after tank and before fuel petcock, and then had one before the fuel petcock and one after before carb, now I am just running one fuel filter after the tank and before the fuel petcock. As long as you have a fuel filter somewhere before the carb you will be fine. It is just there to keep anything from in the gas tank making it into the carb.

Thanks guys. I saw a few tutorials on YouTube that had it between tank and petcock so I was worried. Now I am cool. If there is one lurking up in there I can't see it. Not worth taking all the hind end apart....
Now to see if I can access the float bowl drain to see if there is any residual gas in the bottom of the carb....
