Hey guys; we're coming to the end of our Verizon contract. We've had really bad issues with the two refurbed Samsung Fascinates that we got with the plan. I really want to avoid that again.
I have to use my cell as my GPS and speed checker, and I love measurement and space-type apps. Not much of a cell phone gamer. We don't really care at this point if we stick with Android or go iPhone. What we do need is at least 750 talk minutes shared, unlimited text and data, and the ability to use an app. to get internet access for our home PCs (wifi, such as FoxFi produces). Knowing all the stuff and considering that mine will be getting bumped and be in various weather situations, do you have any suggestions?

I have virgin mobile and an andriod phone i pay 35 a month no contract, just buy the phone, got my phone at radio shack for a great price. Unlimted text, web and 500 minutes.

That sounds heavily awesome. I used to have a small VM phone about 2 years ago for a short spell; prepaid, paid like 25 bucks a month for 300 mins (and never used those) with web and text and all that. Didn't know they were doing the smart phone thing now. But to use as a hotspot? |

since im poor
and have no need for a android phone { i have a laptop}
i have one of those free govt phones from virgin mobile
250 mins free/ month
and for $20 get another 750 mins & 1000 texts/month
problem is nothing rolls over till the next month

i have boost, boost and virgin are own by sprint but boost has the hotspot option for 10 bucks more a month(vm doesnt) and will go down every 6 months by 5 bucks to has low has 40 unlimited www.boostmobile.com/shop/plans/monthly-unlimited/ and t mobile has just went all non- contract and you have a option to pay a monthly amount for you phone o top of your service plan or buy it straight out www.t-mobile.com/shop/plans/individual-plans.aspx and as for the phone i love the samsung s 2 best phone i every had and i have drop this thing many times with out breaking anything knock on wood but i am not a apple fan so i say go with android device but the s2 cost about 300 buck right know but it is while worth it but they have cheaper phones at boost and vm but i have had about every top of the line phone the both offer and the s2 is the best hands down. You can buy the google nexus 4 on the play store for 299 and have it run on the t mobile sim |

WOw ok thanks for the input. We live in a rural area and because of the coverage maps combined with the fact that we need 4g because apparently we aren't getting cable for internet so mobile hotspot is all we can use for sometimes up to 3 computers at once (plus the Wii running netlix online). I believe boost and virgin mobile just borrows sprint's towers (who also use Verizon's around here since there are so few Sprint, even though I've had fine luck with Sprint in the past in this small town). Gotta check out Boost now... $40 is sounding right!

I am extremely bias as I work for an indirect Verizon agent. If you don't live in a major metro area your only 2 options are AT&T or Verizon. And Verizon's 4G network is larger than AT&T+Sprint+TMobile combined. And by July or August all of Verizon's 3G network will be completely 4G. As far as the phones go, never buy referbished phones and never buy a Samsung phone under $100. The Galaxy S4 will be out in May and will be a kick phone(I've played with the preproduction version. But a Motorola is the best value and by far the best built phones. A RAZR M, RAZR HD, or RAZR HD MAXX(40 hour battery life). Where I live Verizon has best coverage and signal but the bill plans are costly . Tmobile has unlimited 4 g for 50 a month . I use a 3rd party prepaid with Veizon ang get a better than than if I went directly with them . ClearTalk has unlimuted talk ,text and web for 25 , a lil more for data plans .
I have a Casio Boulder that is not touch screen or has apps , but military grade tough and I can take a picture underwater to a meter . Casio also has commando for those who like a touch screen Droid . The Walmart phones are not that good but service is better than their phones . All Casios are military tough and waterproof
