So I keep reading how most "performance exhaust" come with a header that is still restrictive (as did mine) and I'm wondering where you find just the header? My searches have come up empty

Take your current header to a muffler shop and have them use it to fabricate a non-restricted pipe. They may be able to bore the current one out, or use the existing flange. You may have to go to a performance shop, they should have all necessary equipment.

Oh awesome that never occurred to me, any idea of a ballpark price?

I would expect around $100, less if they can just bore it out, more if they have to bend a custom piece.

They would more then likely just make a new one and use the flange from both ends of the stock header, but you can always ask them if it was possible to do any boring through the stock header.

Is there re-jetting involved when you do this? Or does it go right back on and run it?
