I enjoy watching it too. It's a bit odd that they trailer their cars to a "street race".

Yeah, if I recall correctly some are not even street legal. The races are done on a closed off street with permission , but when they go out and test the cars at night , they are doing it illegally. It is a really good show.

Yea there are only a couple of the cars on the show that are "street legal" meaning plated, insured, and appearing to be stock. My biggest thing is when people say "they are not the fastest street cars", the only one on the show who really ever stated they had a street car was "The Cutty", as for the rest they say they have "the fastest street raced cars". And if I personally owned a car that was worth more than my house I would trailer them to the race as well lol. And yes I am a fan of the show, watch it every week and have most of the drivers on my facebook, some of them I am "friends" with and some just following because they already had to many "friends".

I watch and chuckle. good for them they got a TV show and making $$$ from it. Street Cars All are Full Chassis, Caged, Tubbed Running Spool's, etc etc etc. Nothing Street about them. Full Blown Race/Track cars hauled in trailers to the fake Race location. 405 Whatever We were doing this in the 817 20 years ago. till the winning disputes led to Guns.

Full Blown Race/Track cars hauled in trailers to the fake Race location. 405 Whatever We were doing this in the 817 20 years ago. till the winning disputes led to Guns. The whole point is racing on the street " not on a prepped tacky track " . its completely different. Most of the cars are street legal . yes its a pre set place to race but its not the track . if not they would be in cuffs every week. However they do test their cars many times on the highways at night and have to avoid the cops. These cars are fast , much faster then the old street cars back in the day and Anyone who races on the street and does not have a roll cage is insane. Just like a couple weeks ago. A mustang down in Texas on the show , rolled about 5 or more times before finally coming to a stop on its roof. They guy would have been in the hospital if he didn't have a roll cage. As times go on , the cars will become more and more powerful , so just because they take precautions doesn't make it less bad . I'm not focusing this at u piston , but it seems like the old street racers look at this and are sort of jealous. Many seem to make excuses like " they're not real street racers because the street is blocked off legally " or " look at those cars , they are not street cars " well , most are 100% street legal , just because they advanced with the times , doesn't make them any less street cars. These care are putting out about 3,000 HP !! There have been a few cars brought on the show from the track , trying to race these guys . they find out real fast that its much different racing on the street. This season if anyone with a racing contract is caught street racing , they loose their racing contract.

I would say the definition of Street Race cars is in a very Gray area. I am well aware of the Challenges of Racing on a Street vs True Prepped Track. Note the Concrete Street, They Have Been Shown to have the Blow Torches out and Sticky Spray. They are prepping the Launch pad. Once out of the launch area you are correct certain challenges begin. That is One Reason the Turbocharged Cars are taking over the Nitrous Cars. Once a Nitrous car Hits the Spray, it is a Tremendous Hit of HP, Hard to put to the ground and on Torque Converters. The Turbo cars can be more easily De-Tuned, Not as much of a HP Hit and as Boost Builds Much More Tractable. A Much Better setup for what they are doing, on There Streets. and TV. Yes some have Lights but note many simply a HD ring around the headlight area. Also note the Numbers in the upper right hand corner of there windshields, Those are NHRA #'s for a NHRA Track and are Chassis Certified along with the Rest of the Components SFI Certified/ Compliant. They Do Not have to have these Certifications to run a Test and Tune Grudge Wed Night at the Drag Strip. They also run a Spool in the Rear End in addition to a Four Link Rear Suspension, They Simply Wont Turn. Skinny Tire or Fat Tire they are All Pure Slicks, Not Street Legal Anywhere, So None of these Cars are Street Legal. I Run a Skinny Tire Mickey Thompson DOT Legal Slick, Only has a few slits across to DOT Comply. Then I can legally Drive it to the Drag Strip. These are Pure Race Cars Brought out in Trailers, Little to Nothing About them is Street. Those Mustangs are still under Emissions Laws. Id also like to see there license Plates with the Safety/Emission Inspection Stickers. I'm not jealous, just see it for what it is. A More True Definition of Street Racing is the car you can Legally Cruse the Blvd. on a Fri. night then meet up on that country road and go at it. No Blow Torches, No Sticky Spray. We had guys more than 25 years ago bringing High HP Race Cars in on Trailers to race on the street. We used to run in front of the Miller brewing plant in Ft Worth until a couple win disputes ended up with guns brought out and shootings. Still run weekly on Luna rd on the NW Corner of Dallas, A Concrete rd in-between Warehouses. Bikes on Thursday Night and Cars on Friday. It is what it is and makes for good TV.

I should also add Wally Parks has to be rolling in his grave as he worked so hard to get this off the streets and on the track were it belongs. They are advocating Illegal street racing. Not just the legality but the safety, Now all I've seen on TV have been full blown Race cars with NHRA #'s telling me the have been thru a NHRA Tech. Inspection and Passing all the SFI certifications. There is nothing stopping a kid with a deep wallet from installing a big hp motor is a car with little to no SFI components. Many of these are SFI cert. Flywheels, Harmonic Balancers, Flex Plates, Drive Shaft Loops, Wheel Studs, etc. Allot of these Dangers are not just the driver but the Spectators that Line the entire Street Strip at Real Steet racing venues. So many times spectators are Killed or Seriously injurers when that cars make are hard right or left into them and then the Non SFI rated parts come flying off and take your head off. For this I have mixed emotions on what they show/advocate by example on TV as "Street Racing". we simply have a disclaimer with no details of don't do what we do. Not Good!

The only ones prepping the track are the ones who are racing against the 405. They even laughed at them for it. They were suppose to be street racing but the Chicago guys were spraying the whole rd , lol. Turbo cars are the future. The nitro cars are running all out and still cannot keep up with most of the turbos. It would be nice to see a show with true illegal street racing but that's impossible in these times. Everyone would be in jail and have their cars impounded . as it is , the show is perfect for TV and def real enough so it can still be called street racing. Before the show , I'm sure it was all done illegally and on unauthorized streets. The only way the cities allow it , is because they are making money off of it also. Jut like shooting a movie. The cities make a ton of cash. When it comes down to it, the racing is real , the cars are " mostly street legal" , and its fun to watch.
Did you see the farm truck , lol. They actually go around and race on the street illegally . but there is no chance of having more then one or two races before the cops come.

I dabbled in a little nite work when I first got to Cali ,,, was running a blown 396 in a duce ,,heavily breathed on jag rear,,,good fun,,,not so much for the competitor ,,,then I switched to built small block chevs in 914 Porsches ,,,,,nothing could touch them on mulholland or any of the canyons for that matter,,,got the itch to build another,,,also eyeing a unmolested sunbeam tiger,,,buy in on that one is big dough tho,,,

You lost me there ?, lol are you talking about the farm truck. If so , yeah his truck is way to heavy to race the others . actually he has been racing as the " trash man" at #11 on the list . anyone who wants on the list must first beat the farm truck. Its like a test , if you can't beat the farm truck , then you don't deserve to be on the list. He raced on the California episode and actually one !! Buy a bus length , lol.
