And are you sure one isn't for the exhaust port on the head to header pipe?

Remove your exhaust pipe and you'll immediately see what KieKara and Geh is talking about.

Remove your exhaust pipe and you'll immediately see what KieKara and Geh is talking about. by "use both" do you mean either or, or both together? or are you talking about the NCY or the stock one?... ill go little more into detail with my problem.... Ive put 500 miles on the 100cc kit, and used the metal and fiber round disc/ring gasket on the rebuild. I always thought it was a bit loud, but chalked it up to just the larger cc's. After the first 50 miles I rechecked all my torques on bolts and everything was seated nicely. I just took off the exhaust to size it for a custom header (my buddy owns a sheet metal shop and just got a cold bender) upon inspection I noticed that the gasket had signs of a distinct leak! carbon on a quarter of the metal part of the gasket. however, it was seated properly, so this is why i thought maybe I used the wrong gasket.... after a google search, I see all three types of gaskets mentioned by you guys, so Im still confused on which will have the best seal (although Im assuming its the NCY style just because it covers the entire flange, not just the opening like the other two) Mahalo again -

Use the ncy type . the crushable donut type are not that great . plus everytime you take the exhaust off you have to replace those type . so yes the metal ncy type are better .

You use both... The little donut ring and the NCY or stock Flange Gasket. On your exhaust port of the head, there's a circular indentation where the donut ring will sit, the NCY gasket goes on over that, then the exhaust over that.

If I'm not mistaken , many on here only use the ncy type. I haven't used the donut type in years. I've never heard anyone use both .

I've never heard anyone use both . Well, now ya have. The NCY gasket is meant as a replacement for the stock flange gasket, not both. The copper/cork core crush washer is used in conjuncture with the flange gasket... If you examine an NCY gasket, it has a metal ring that corresponds and aligns with the crush washer. Now, can you use just the NCY one? It would appear so, seeing as how you are... However, I have both installed, and mine is working as well... So, I dunno, all I can do is offer my experience and opinion. I suggest using both. If you don't, there will be a gap on the inside of your flange gasket and the ring indented in the head...

My scoot only had the crush donut gasket ! I might have to try using both. I've seen many other who have only had the crush gasket. Does the crush gasket fit inside the ncy ring ? If so I'd be surprised it would crush, due to the thickness of the ncy gasket. I've actually seen were members told others not to use the crush kind , and to use the ncy kind. If your right , then I would def like to do it right. Hopefully someone else will chime in on this .
