I heard a story or 2 of people in Detroit trying to steal electricity from power poles. That involves fooling around with the high voltage lines and hooking it up to presumably stolen meters. Every once in a while they end up electrocuting themselves.... what a horrible way to die. Yeah probably somebody trying to make a peso or 2 selling stuff that they know about to people that know how to use it. Probably too suspicious for them to try and sell stuff that they really might not know how to unload without too much risk. Apparently not all thieves are utterly stupid. (or drinkers either) So we're looking for a contractor, or a friend of a contractor, who doesn't drink alcohol. That should narrow it down to one or two people in a 100 mile radius.

Thieves do not like my hyper dogs. They don't socialize well and go ballistic if a stranger even looks like they might be thinking of entering the yard. Dogs are mans and possibly your scooters best friends.
Cats won't do:

I saw that commercial last week , it pretty good. I grew up a cat person. We have three cats , my little girls love them . the cats stay inside , I never let them out. Its funny if we Cary them ouside the latch onto us like they are going to die or something , lol. One of the cats can't wait until I go upstairs to go to sleep . every night she waits at the bottom of the steps and every time I go upstairs she flies up the steps and on the bed . I'll lay down and she lays right on my chest, lol. I've woke up many times and had all three on top of me ! But yeh they do what they want , not like a dog . its hard to get a cat to really listen to you ,lol.

And cats don't usually defend their masters home while the hyper dogs will being very loud in the process. The Giant Akita on the other hand just had to stand there which would send most troublemakers running in the other direction as if that would have done any good if she had actually gone after them.

It happened again yesterday, I got a call at 11am from the alarm system I had installed after the first intrusion, when I arrived home the fence of one of the kitchen windows was laying on the ground, luckily this time the burglar was scared away by the alarm system and didn't take anything. That was enough for me, crime won this round, I'm crashing at my sister's place with my stuff all around her house in boxes, I'll be here until I can find a crime free place to live in peace forever and ever

After seeing this I'm reminded of an article I read in the paper many years ago about a bugler who broke into a residential house and was confronted by the family "kitty" (in this case about 700 lb. of Bengal Tiger) Eventually they retuned home to find the crook still with one leg over the windowsill, frozen with fear. (mind you "Fluffy" never threatened, just LOOKED at him) Needless to say he was OVERJOYED when the cops showed up and hauled him away to the pokey.

Not crime-related, but still protective-dog related.
My old dog was a Vizsla, which is Hungarian for loves anyone giving me attention.
The cable guy was at the house doing something. He had loved up Sasha before getting to work, and of course made an instant friend there. At some point he told Mom he'd be in and out doing his work.
Mom got a phone call, so excused herself. And very shortly after answering, Sasha started barking. Well, Mom just assumed the guy had gone outside and left Sasha inside which upset her (meaning the dog). Mom kept talking with her friend a while, then finally decided she'd better go down and calm the dog.
She found the cable guy squeezed into the little space on the hearth beside the big console tv, with Sasha in front of him barking at him. He was not moving a muscle.
Good old dog. She was with us 16 years, and that wasn't nearly long enough.

As for your second break-in, ricardo, I heard somewhere that thieves will often hit the same house several times. Something about insurance and most folks pumping up their losses some to get improved versions, which of course are more attractive to the thief. Either that, or he realized he'd left the scotch behind. >'Kat

The only way to slow them.down is to make them think , not twice , but a third , fourth and fith time before breaking into someone's home ! I wouldn't think twice about using deadly force if someone has the balls to break into my house. Of course I have a family to protect also , but to me an alarm system while good for protecting your personal items when your not home , are just a warning not to enter that particular house , and the alarm forces the criminal to another less protected home that may have defenseless children . About a yr ago the I was in bed watching TV and I heard 5 gunshots. I grabbed my 45 and when outside . my neighbor also came outside . he said a few minutes before the shots there was a knock on his door , but he did not answer it. The a few mins went by and the gunshots rang out. I walked around with a flashlight looking for anyone or any damage possibly caused buy bullets , but could not find anything. More then likely someone shot into the air then ran away. I do not live in a high crime area but you still have idiots who are probably drunk or high running around. We never called the cops because we had no evidence , not shells , no holes , etc. I would not have thought twice if I had seen the perpetrator with a firearm . there are stupid people everywhere.

As much as I would like to punish the perpetrator, there's not much I can do legally aside from calling the authorities, most people don't have guns over here, gun control laws are hard, and there is no point in carrying a gun here anyway, if you threat or shot someone with a gun without being able to prove that your life or someone else's was in danger, you will go to jail, no matter if you are in your own property; I guess that's the price to pay for living in a "pacifist country".
