I've got a 2005 UM X-Speed 50cc that I bought with a blown up motor for my boy. I've recently put a 70cc BBK kit on it, rebuilt the stock mukini carb and changed the stock 70 jet to 80 as a starting point. Also changed all fuel and oil injector lines. Started it for the first time this last weekend and started without to much trouble. Idle came right up and slowed down after a minute or two to "normal" speed. So I assume the "choke" was working fine. Started fine a couple more times over the next day then I removed the throttle cable to reroute it and now everytime I start it, it idles extremely high and doesn't change even after 5 min. I've taken the throttle cable back out many times with no change in idle. Any ideas I'm at a loss???

Check if you put in the Slider in the wrong way, the IDLE SPEED SCREW will hold the slider up and it will idle really high. The Slider goes in only in one direction with the slot toward the the IDLE SPEED SCREW. Alleyoop

I've double checked that and I'm positive it's in there right.

Ok, then leave the throttle cable on and take the carb off and look inside and see if the SLIDER is raised or the needle is hanging up or bent. Alleyoop

Did you maybe forgot the spring to push the slider down or it fell out and you did not notice. Alleyoop

When you re routed the throttle cable, you might of loss some slack and it is not allowing the slide to fall all the way down. you can try to give the cable some slack by adjusting the nut by the throttle and at the carb leader on most scooters or you can try to re-route it again. Another thing to check if you have the 1 to 2 cable setup is at the box where the one cable goes in and two come out there is sleeves where the cable slip into and they could by stuck on the outside of the sleeve and not seated inside the sleeve

I had to reroute my throtte cable as it got in a bind and would idle so fast the wheel would spin while on the CS .
What size idle jet does it have ? Mine came with a 40 and I went up to a 45 IJ and use a 120 main jet with Uni and MMG pipe on my BBK 2T

I haven't had much time to mess with the carb but I did check the choke/auto enrichner and it is bad. My question is could this cause the high idle?

how high of an idle are we talking about? Usually once the motor warms up after 5 minutes or so if the enricher did not extend to cut off the extra fuel it will start to run bad to much gas. Alleyoop

I guessing around 3000-4000 RPM. It spinning the back wheel hard enough that the rear brake can barely stop it.

WHOA, that is more RPMS than an ENRICHER would create if it was not shutting off the extra fuel. Did you check if the SLIDER was down all the way like this: Alleyoop

It appears to be down where it should be.

I just adjusted what i assume is the A/F needle. I originally set it 1 3/4 turns out just like it was when I rebuilt the carb. I turned the needle all the way in and the idle is a lot closer to "normal". Is it possible this setting can work? Or do I have another problem somewhere else? Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.

Ok, then all you might need to do is LOWER the IDLE using the IDLE SPEED SCREW: Here is what your carbs probably looks like and I labled the parts on it THE CENTER SCREW is your IDLE SPEED SCREW. Counter Clockwise Lowers the IDLE and Clockwise Raises the IDLE. Alleyoop

The idle speed screw is ALL the way out. I wouldn't think that's normal, but not sure. What baffles me is it ran fine the other day, and now I had to make all these adjustments. Is it possible that I have developed an air leak somewhere and could cause the idle problems?
