Ok guys, I am loving the Linhai aeolus 300cc with the 275cc engine right now but I have a quick question... what is the max speed on this scoot... I checked my gps says 76 and 80 on the scootmeter. But is seem like it can go faster but its stuck. Are there any restrictors on this engine. I heard that some scooters has an extra washer on the belt or the exhaust pipe it close. Any ideas....or this is the fastest it goes. ...

The restrictions are on the 49cc scooters, anything larger does not have them. Those restrictions were to keep them from going faster than the law allows for non motorcycle class motorized bikes/mopeds and such.
What do you mean by "stuck"

What do you mean by "stuck" Might be me...it seems like it stutters when I'm at 75mph but I guess I'm at top speed. I guess I was looking at around 80mph in stock top speed for the aeolus 300. I have a exhaust upgrade on the way.. I had a 244cc jonway clone and I topped it out at 69mph... I figured that a 275cc can give me bout 10 extra mph.

The BMS260 I had, was fuel injected and could go 83MPH. But it was fuel injected. If you want to go faster, you could reduce back pressure by drilling holes in the rear of the muffler, or installing a performance exhaust for 250cc engines (usually an exhaust for 300+cc engines would work as well). Doing so you may or may not gain 1MPH. But to get more out of it... Try getting the right gasoline. Experiment with gasoline and engine oils and see what works best!

I think the intake is good enough. You're not changing a lot with the exhaust, just relieve the pressure in the muffler by increasing the exhaust tip diameter, or add more exhaust tips.

I have the same scooter and my speedometer gets stuck at 60 mph...I've passed traffic on a 65 mph. freeway, so I'm guessing I accelerated to around 70-75 with WOT on a slight downhill...on flat ground, mine would probably do 75 max.

Changing the exhaust will lean out your mix usually be careful. How close to the redline are you at that speed? Some bikes have rev limiters. You may consider roller upgrades for more speed...

Change from the vacuum fuel pump to an electrical one, I've had mine up to 77 GPS and I still had some throttle left over. The Vac pump has trouble delivering fuel at max throttle.

Fuel delivery and some times the need for a valve adjustment are two. A streatched out belt, owrn out rollers, too light rollers, sticking variator sheeve not closing up far enough or even the clutch sheeve sticking and not able to open up fully. My fuel injected 250cc Aprilia has seen gps readings well above 80 mph and once during a moment of inatentiveness well over . It is a high compression engine with a 4 valve head in stock configuration however one would expect better from a Linhai at 275cc despite the carb. The slide carb is supposed to fill the gap and give near to fuel injection type performance. Of course if the diaphragm is not seated correctly or the needle has slipped this could also have a negative impact on top speed. If the bike has yet to be broken in then that of course is another matter. You really have to wait until after the break-in oil change for a bike to gradually loosen up and reach its top speed potential.

Well depending on your normal riding, I don't know if it is really productive. Adding one or two miles per hour on the top end, when it takes so long to get there and you don't want to run it at WOT all the time, I guess I don't see the point. Unless you are regularly running at 75 mph. On twelve inch wheels though I am not sure how much more I would want to go. I only get mine on 2 mile stints on a 60 mph freeway and I have it at 70 sometimes for a portion of that to stay in a bubble of safety away from other cars. But for the most part I am at 60 or less all the time. I have had mine above and still pulling on a back country straight just to see what it would do, but after 80 mph, that was really enough for me, and my wheels are a tad larger. It is supposed to do mid nineties but I never want to try. The power is nice to have to get away from people if you need, but if you have to do eighty on a scooter with small wheels, you are better off just letting them pass. Now, anyone trying to get more zip in around town on the low end, well, you can never have too much of that. But if high speeds is your thing, I would look for a more capable scoot with some cc's like a used Burgman or something. But good luck with the project if you undertake one.

A Sport City 250 uses the basically same 15 inch tire sizes as the Burgman and Majesty. I have been running metric cruiser tires since the first set wore out. The Linhai I would have expected more from since they were partnered with Yamaha in developing the 260 cc engine however they may have it detuned a bit to enhance longevity. The Aprilia version of the Piaggio 250 is about 249cc and develops close to 25 hp so that it can cruise the interstate quite nicely. Add a GPR exhaust system with the matching header pipe and have the fuel injection remapped then you could be looking at a 100 mph bike. Do a little moderate porting and polishing of the 4 valve head and then you are in the 100+ range. A little bit of a change in the gear ratio in the final drive and 120 becomes possible making these a bit of a sleeper bike that can take the Nija riders by surprise.
